i don't like the extending handles on the model s. can't say they're great on model y either with the thumb/reverse-grab-front move needed.

I'm surprised BMW is going that route when they have what is IMO a better execution of an electronic handle already:

The door handles are the only thing about my S580 that I hate.

The Model S and X implementation actually works really well. For the Model 3 and Y it's for aerodynamics purposes, but done on the cheap. It's something you get used to, but it's current implementation can't be defended. For the "non Tesie" as Bay likes to call us, I have to show them how to open the doors, which is frankly for a lack of a better word, embarrassing . Once you get used to the door handles, it's not a big deal, so I'll just take the Apple line here and say "It just works"

i didnt realize MBs are bad... Works fine on my MS, only problem is if you try to hold them at the half second before they start closing, you have to work quick.
Otherwise they are cool looking.

I think the issue is that the handles are also touch sensitive for locking. The issue is if you brush them the wrong way while trying to open the door they will snap shut and trap your hand. It doesn’t hurt, but it’s obnoxious. My daughter actually refuses to use the door handles at all.

Are the Model S’s touch sensitive for locking?

No, Tesla's have a "walk away" lock feature

Original Model S door handles were complete trash Tesla used off the shelf micro-switches with no weather sealing at all. Wires broke off due to no strain relief. Tesla figured out the reliability problem but pop out door handles are a dumb design. I like the Model Y handles, flush for aerodynamics and no motor mechanism to fail.

That's the only plus. They are difficult to use if you have something in your hand. Once you figure out how to use them they are easy, but most people who have never opened a Model 3 or Y door have trouble with them

Yeah, they quto close after xx seconds of you not touching them. There is a cool factor to them, plus they do break any ice i encountered.

yup, 3x 15kWh batteries and the smaller thinner box is the controller. i put the third battery off to the right so i can open the ioniq door between them when i pull in. system's not running yet. need a sign off from the power company.

and this is the other 'part'

friend has 5 tesla powerwalls!

and a big panel array but even though he has more panels, they're older and don't generate as much electricity. my panels collect sunlight from BOTH SIDES!

ID Buzz prices finally tanking. My local dealership has ~16k off on the site and reddit has people negotiating another 2-3k off that. $72k MSRP down to $56k before you step in the door
