Confidence in fully autonomous vehicles was 76% among those who had ridden in one, compared to just 20% in the general population (a 56-point gap) and 34% among non-riders in deployment cities.
  • A July 2025 Forbes analysis of multiple polls echoed this, noting that a J.D. Power report found consumer confidence in robotaxis 56 points higher among riders (76%) than non-riders (20%). Similarly, Belgian academic research showed that people developed more positive feelings about driverless tech after riding in one, though large-scale surveys without hands-on trials may underestimate acceptance.

It certainly feels like waymos are everywhere in the city. They are only able to pick up people in SF and in an outer city next to SF, Daly City. but they are testing all the way down to Palo Alto and recently got approval to test within SFO airport.

That poll seems ridiculous. Similar to a BEV adoption poll. Those who have driven one are far more likely to purchase, compared to those who haven't. It makes no sense to ask someone's opinion on something they have no experience with.

Went from SF to Atlanta for work and I saw a Waymo here too It was stuck in traffic just like me when I was trying to get past the city on 85
