I don’t think any Tesla is especially exciting either. I also wouldn’t call the Rivian “exciting”. Like it or not that 4Runner is just not a “boring” vehicle. It’s a fun truck. I understand the appeal of both vehicles.
You said yourself you wouldn’t buy a $100k vehicle anyways so the argument about the Rivian is moot, No EV exists that is as capable and interesting as that 4 Runner for $50k.
You have an older one, pre TTV6? Plus your use for your truck is different from what a typical Rivian user uses their truck for. The owner of this one goes camping frequently, but doesn't tow or use it as a work truck, although it does both well

I was going to ask, can it tow? I’m about to YouTube it. I’m sure it can tow but so far I think the Silverado EV is the towing champ when it comes to EVs.
Silverado EV has impressive range but unhitching to charge could be a hassle especially in nasty weather.
For your usage scenario, your truck is better suited because you tow long distances. But from an enjoyment perspective, you can't beat quad motors with over 800 HP available instantly

Agree. Chargers with a pull-through option are still few and far between. Also, the general rule of thumb I've seen used for towing is to assume a 50% reduction in range.

Just to be accurate, the Tacoma does not have the TTV6. They are all 4 cyl now.

Imagine one charging spot left or the prefect spot to charge your spot and while you’re unhitching your trailer, another car swoops in and takes that spot. Guess you can carry an orange cone and stick in that spot while you’re unhitching your trailer.
