Yep. EVs have very poor resale value.

That’s 59% of its MSRP vs 42% for the Rivian.

Although to be fair the R1T in 2022 wasn’t $100k. That’s probably a $72k truck.

But IMO being shocked about resale of EVs doesn’t make sense. We know resale is terrible. That’s mitigated by leasing.

-$30k in 3yrs is still a steep depreciation it seems.

So this is a great price for whoever buys this 2nd hand?

I would say so. Last year a relative of my wife paid $80k on a used Quad motor

The 2022 Rivians qualified for $7500 federal tax credit regardless of the MSRP or the buyer income. So that must be factored in and it makes a significant difference to the math.

The initial customer 2022's were also often price protected, so you have to factor that in as well.

The best used car for those still with access to cheap ample home charging is a second hand ev.

The above posts have strengthened the philosophy of "if you want to buy the least depreciating car or truck its either Porsche 911 or a Toyota branded midsize BOF."

Well if you're looking to keep me awake, than a 911 or used EV will do. If you're trying to put me to sleep, I guess the Toyota will suffice

A Toyota Tacoma is not a boring truck, it’s a very nice and fun to have little truck.
