I'm guessing Jill's experience with Toyota's explains everything....outdated tech
Quick story. About 10 years ago I went with a friend to an Apple store, it was my first time ever stepping foot in one. He was buying a Mac book. It was a very interesting experience, I felt like I had entered a temple. Anyway, he asks the associate about Anti-Virus, and the associate basically tells him Macs are invulnerable to viruses, worms and compromises. He said it so matter of fact. Being an IT professional for more than 20 years, that's the biggest load of garbage I ever heard, so I looked at the associate, and I asked him "Is brainwashing included?" Dude looked at me with a blank stare, I don't think even sunk in until later because they never get push back from Apple customers
In the same ole reliable Toyota as Jill…have had 2 MacBooks since 2007/2008. Bought the 2nd MacBook in 2016 I want to say. Still use one from 2016 to this day. The one from 2007/8 still powers on and runs just have to keep it plugged in. They’ve outlasted my windows computers. Received a new windows computer this past Christmas (idk what kind I haven’t opened the box) but it will be only used to tune my car. My tuner said the windows computer I’ve been using to tune is slow. 🫣
Back on somewhat topic, just use CarPlay. It’ll be fine. 😁 onIy “vehicles” that doesn’t have CarPlay…the tractor and the side by side. Carplay the world!!
At a point in time that was true since mac os just never sold in numbers for attention from bad actors. However love geniuses parroting outdated training material like that lol. That blue shirt aint free

There is no doubt that Apple makes great products that last, but nothing is invulnerable, which is my point, thus hearing that BS hit a nerve. I'm going to layoff on anymore Toyota discussion because it's not productive. I was making a joke earlier, btw

Quick change of topic here - about the fun driving dynamics of an EV. About 2 hours ago I was getting onto the on-ramp of 95N - I was turning from a stoplight onto the on ramp. There are 2 lanes of the on-ramp and a very short 3rd lane to the far right which only goes maybe 150 yards and then has to merge into the 2nd lane. Not sure why that far right merge lane even exists honestly. Anyway, I'm slowly accelerating and probably going like 30mph and I see this silver IS-F behind me get into that far right lane. Lane to the left of me was wide open, not a single car. So this guy is going to do something unnecessarily stupid all so he can cut me off by taking the merge lane and zipping in front of me. Just take the left lane dude, it's open. I wait a second or two and see in my right side view as he starts to make his move and I absolutely floor the MYP. In like 3-4 seconds I look down and I'm going 95mph and he is WAY behind me (and he was trying to keep up).
Moments like that I love having an EV. That instant torque that can get you out of a situation if needed, and few gas cars can keep up. Idiot driver was going to put me in an unnecessarily tense situation. Instead he got put in his place and left behind. Too bad I couldn't see the disappointment on his face! I rarely/never use the full power of the MYP but today I was reminded of what that no-delay torque feels like. Fantastic!

was hoping Steve would reply. Wired CarPlay can run with no Bluetooth. Something nice about Toyota + CarPlay is that when connected with a wire, it runs in the background until a phone call comes thru, and once that comes in, the CarPlay pops on the screen and handles the call, then the infotainment goes back to the native screen when the call is finished.

Nobody really cares about "wired" AA or ACP, just like nobody cares how far a Phev will go, just like nobody cares about wired Ethernet, although more reliable than wireless. Nobody cares. Here's the issue: there is a bug in ios that effects BT connections. When Apple fixes it, problem solved

Jill posted that to me, and I care. It’s absolutely something I will try, I will plug in and see if it’s an issue with the WiFi CarPlay connection or if it happens when plugged in also.
It’s super annoying that’s for sure. Happened 3 times today
BTW, my computer and two of my AppleTVs are plugged into wired Ethernet

Oh sorry the most important person on this forum cares. Please forgive me 🙏

Alright so moving back to EV'S, @patgilm are we good? You are no longer blaming "buggy software" on your poor Plaid? You should say sorry to her right away and move to a OnePlus ASAP 🤣
You guys don’t have to care. Not every discussion in this forum involves you. I responded to patglim’s BT issue he was having with my own issue I have been having and Jill responded to me with a question. Doesn’t involve you guys.

Sounds like it’s not important to those who don’t have it??
I use both. I use the MB’s native navigation most of the time and its native audio setup because the audio quality is much better. When it comes to using the phone for calls or texts I use CarPlay because it just works much better.

I’m not sure, I haven’t downloaded ios26 yet and my other two cars my phone works fine. My wife has downloads ios26 and we both have the same issue so I don’t know who to blame at this point. I just want it working and as of last night I still can’t take a call in the car.
