One of my agents has a ZDX, she did a one pay lease for 36 months for $6,000. Crazy!

That's crazy 🤣. If I needed a car, I would be totally tempted. But with the economy looking like it's going to take a downturn, and possibly looming never ending wars, I'm not making any major purchases anytime soon

Theres a couple other unicorns for less money, but dont want to lease something just to leave it as a paperweight.

Absolutely. Our Ioniq 5 is just that right now, a paper weight. The lease is not up until July, and the mileage has almost reached it's allowed limit. My son who is attending UC Berkeley right now is using our Sienna. Ioniq 5 is a great car, but my last lease I paid $2600 for going over the allowed miles

i don't get that... first of all the cone of shame being a student and driving a minivan 😂
second, even with mileage overage cost, that's probably still less expensive than gas there for the minivan.

I too don't understand paying for a car and not driving it for fear of running up cost. Just turn it in early, you'll pay the same and won't pay for insurance etc.

I am always over mileage, you're paying to use the vehicle and you would have paid for the miles in the payment if you weren't paying penalties if you had gotten enough miles in the lease and I have always been successful weaseling my way out of the overage.

Getting out of overage/small damage/early return only works if you are leasing from the same automaker again right? Have you ever been successful not getting charged on a leased vehicle that you simply returned and then jumped to a competitor?

You can trade it in. I've done it all the time. Same brand or different brand. I think Tesla let you do it now too.

Haha, the problem is charging, he lives in a high rise with no access to charging. There is an Electrify America, but he doesn't have time to charge it. Secondly, lots of homeless in Berkeley that break into cars, they will see the minivan and feel sorry for him. And lastly, he needs to feel the cone of shame...you should see the POS my first car was. Boy needs to be humbled 🤣

I'm going to turn it in early, maybe around May. The only way to "weasel" you're way out of overage is getting into another lease, I don't need another car, I'm already one car too many

You mean buy out your lease, and then trade it in?
I haven't had experience, but do dealers also help you buy out your lease and take your vehicle?

during Covid when used car prices skyrocketed and lessors stopped allowing lease buyouts from carmax, I actually bought out my BMW X1 and carmaxed it myself for a small gain, but I had to pay sales tax and going though the whole DMV process was not fun

I don't need another car right now, we are already one car to many. I tried to see if I can sell it, nope, I would be $10k under water
