Used Porsche Taycans Are Surprisingly Cheap Right Now
Looking for a fancy performance EV for around $50,000? You can get a used Taycan for less than that
- Now is a great time to buy a used Porsche Taycan, which can cost less than half of what it did when new.
- The cheapest we found listed online dipped below $40,000.
- Cars on the used EV market may start going up in price as Trump's tariffs on imported cars start to take effect
Porsche didn’t mess around when it created the Taycan, a bespoke EV designed from the ground up to be all-electric. It won massive praise over the years because even though it has electric motors, it still felt like a real Porsche, retaining the driving characteristics people look for in these cars. The Taycan’s only big problem was its price, which put it out of reach for many.
Now that the Taycan is almost six years old, prices for used examples have come down considerably. You can get a good early example for under $60,000, and it packs a lot of Porsche performance for the money. That’s if you want the dual-motor with the big battery, which is what we would pick, but you can get them even cheaper.
If you’re looking for a base single-motor rear-wheel-drive car, there’s one listed on Cars.com right now for $39,995 with under 37,000 miles on it. The cheapest 4S with the small battery costs $46,420, and it’s covered over 65,000 miles, but there are lower-mileage dual-motor examples for a few thousand more.
We also found a 2021 Taycan 4S Performance Plus, which has the bigger 93.4 kWh battery, selling for $53,900 with just under 46,000 miles. That was a $110,000 car back in 2021, and that’s before options. It's now less than half the original price, which makes it sound like a used terrific deal.
Second-hand Taycan prices seem to have come down quicker after the updated version was released, which upped range but especially performance numbers. However, it has to be said that even though the revised Taycan is better than before, it isn’t as popular as Porsche was expecting. Sales have taken a downturn.
Car YouTubers, even ones not typically into electric vehicles, have recently started buying cheap Taycans. Tom Voelk from Driven Car Reviews bought a certified pre-owned Taycan 4S sedan for about half its original price, and he says it’s a fantastic car. Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire got a used Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, which he drove from Michigan to California, and he can’t stop raving about what a good purchase it was.
Used Taycans may go up in value (along with the rest of the second-hand electric car market) as tariffs on imported new EVs by the Trump administration start to take effect. This may be the best time to buy one of these cars, which at half of their original value and low miles sound like a great deal for drivers looking to go electric without sacrificing having fun behind the wheel.

Cadillac’s most affordable EV just got even cheaper
The Optiq, Cadillac’s most affordable EV, just got a price cut. Despite being on the market for less than two months, GM cut lease prices by nearly $100 a month. Here’s how you can snag the dealGM cuts lease prices on Cadillac’s most affordable EV
Compared to Cadillac’s other electric vehicles, like the Escalade IQL, which starts at over $130,000, and the Vistiq, which has a price tag of over $77,000, the Optiq already looks like a steal at about $55,000.Cadillac’s electric SUV arrived in January with lease prices starting at $489 per month. Although this was already its cheapest SUV (gas or EV), GM is making it even more affordable this month.
The 2025 Cadillac Lyriq is now listed at just $399 for 24 months with $4,929 due at signing. In less than two months, the OPTIQ’s lease prices have fallen by $90, or almost 20%. The deal is for the 2025 Cadillac Optiq AWD Luxury 1 with an MSRP of $54,390.
Cadillac’s lease deal runs through March 31. However, there are a few limitations you should know about. The deal includes a $2,000 loyalty or conquest offer.
The fine print states you must be a lessee of a 2020 model year or newer non-GM vehicle for at least 30 days. According to online car research firm CarsDirect, this extends to 2011 and newer electric vehicles from a competitor brands such as Tesla, Rivian, Porsche, BMW, Ford, and Honda, among several others.
At 190″ long, 75″ wide, and 65″ tall, the Cadillac Optiq is about the same size as the Tesla Model Y (187″ long x 76″ wide x 64″ tall).
Powered by an 85 kWh battery pack, the electric SUV has a driving range of up to 302 miles. With 150 kW DC fast charging, the Optiq can gain up to 79 miles of range in about 10 minutes.
inside, the Optiq features a massive 33″ infotainment and “segment-leading” cargo (57 cubic feet) and second-row space.
GM has been introducing new deals on new EV models all year. Chevy’s new Equinox, Blazer, and Silverado EVs are all available with 0% APR with leases starting as low as $299 per month.

Pretty interesting interview. Talking about building the brand. I like the Electric Roadhouse naming of the studio. Cool to hear that 8 of the original workers are still working at Rivian. 16,000 workers now. Also cool to hear his thoughts on A.I. I don’t know if I agree about the ambitions of hands free driving will be happen. I find it really interesting his thoughts on how to get the last 93% of cars, in the United States to become electric.
