General EV Conversation
I think it looks sharp but I don't see this selling a lot, at least not in meaningful numbers.
They couldn't sell the diesel, only 5% of them so they dropped it. (I could have told GM that from the get go and saved them a lot of money.)
The big V8 is a part of the Escalade's appeal. That's not a knock on EVs, they can buy this one.

As far as Cadillac is concerned, I'm seeing a ton of Lyriq's, so they are selling. Also, I've driven a few Diesel's like the Oldsmobile and once as passenger in the RAM truck, and frankly I didn't like the experience. You can't compare a diesel to an EV drivetrain, which is smoother and quieter than a V8, which is what an Escalade buyer would want. Most Escalades here are used to transport executives around, and the reason for that is how roomy, quiet and comfortable they are, which makes them perfect with an EV drivetrain, IMO of course
EV'S are not just about gas mileage, but performance. Someone who buys a Hybrid is most likely for gas mileage. Remove EV'S entirely from the picture, and our family car would most likely be a hybrid, but my personal daily commuter would have a big *** engine 😄
Don't underestimate diesels. Good ones are absolutely phenomenal to drive. All about the torque. Max torque at much lower RPM than NA engines, better suited for off road than anything where max torque isn't available until much higher RPM, runs on anything that vaguely resembles oil, excellent NVH, and virtually indestructible. BMW diesels when they were available were tremendous.

orly... the gas escalade is typical old gm tank proportions with modern stupid high hood.

Really is irrelevant what powertrain the Escalade has, if the design is good. Will sell well

I saw my first Volkswagen ID4
I see plenty of both around here. We really liked the ID4, but it leaves a lot to be desired. It uses all captouch buttons, that are too easy to activate when not intending to. It also has only 2 window buttons for all 4 windows. There's a switch you need to activate to change from front to back. Then there's how slow it feels for an EV. If you're coming from an ICE vehicle, it feels pretty quick. Just don't compare it with another mainstream BEV.
