It all comes back to this bias against EVs…
I don’t think there is bias. Some have serious objections in the long term ownership part as I watch so many members on here talk about leasing as the way to go when driving an EV.

Better things cost more. A Mercedes S Class is incredibly expensive to repair at the dealer in many ways. The fact is hybrid batteries have been around for 25 years and this myth of impending battery replacement is just that, a myth.

When people say every chance they get that they will never buy anything with a battery, go out of their way to constantly point out any potential negatives of anything with a battery, and to make up driving characteristics about cars with electrified technology they have never driven and argue with people who actually have those cars about them being accurate that is a bias lol

Leasing EVs being smarter is not about the reliability of the EV, its about the huge depreciation of those EVs. I have no concerns about reliability of EVs, there is a lot less to go wrong than with an ICE car. I would also never buy any high end luxury car vs lease for that same reason, owning them is just incredibly expensive because of the depreciation. I actually would be more comfortable with keeping an EQS to 100k miles than my S580 or previous S560.

The flip side of that is there are some incredible pre owned EV options. A 2 year old EQS for $50,000? Thats a screaming deal.

Long term ownership of any complex modern car is a question.

Dude you're just mad Trump won, so now we will have a president that doesn't shove EVs down our throats. I align with his view which is "If you want an EV go buy one, that's great.." Not a president with delusions of grandeur saying that in 25 years in 2050 the USA won't emit carbon lmao. I'm not making up anything, there you go again calling people liars. Christ dude give it up.

Do you want me to tell you you have the largest ***** on here? Fine, you do. The problem is that the only person playing this measuring game is you.

@AJT123, exit this thread.

NO POLITICS, rude personal comments.

Also I’ve warned both you and @SW17LS to stop the bickering across multiple threads many times. Please put each other on your ignore lists and stop responding to each other from this point forward.

Sounds like it's around $1600 to have Mercedes do it, or $700 to do it yourself.

The one thing that turned me off from leasing a Tesla in 2023 was the fact at the time you didn’t have the option to own it after your lease ended. I was interested in leasing as sort of giving it an extended try. If I loved it, I wanted the option to keep it. At the time, Tesla was the only known EV I was aware of outside of something like a Leaf which was a vehicle I’ve never been interested in.

We will see next go around. But I would have to give up something to acquire another vehicle. Simply out of room. Believe it or not, my 3rd gen Prius would be the last vehicle I get rid of. It handles more dirty work than my truck. 🫣

Funny you mentioned that. My coworker who recently bought his Model 3 also has a 2014 Prius. He decided to keep it for the same reason I keep my Sienna....as his hauler because it has a huge amount of space in the back

my ioniq 5 limited has a buy out in oct '26 of 36k. not sure how that will seem by then but right now i'd consider buying the car at the end of the lease. it's great.

Our buyout is $41k, and it's a lesser model speced less than yours. That's unfortunately far from a deal

Yes, Tesla now 100 percent allows buyouts on leases

Yeah they changed their policy at the end of November (starting 11/24 I think?). Now every model is eligible for buy out.

What do you think about Tesla FSD V13? 13 is an unlucky number but it doesn't seem so with Tesla. I tried a 30 minute drive and it was nice. Hand free, no more nagging the whole ride. It behaves more humanlike, gives more options to tailor to one's need. IMO, this may be the edge that draws more buyers to them even other guys offer features that Tesla lacks.
