i don't think it's coming. Since it's using Google automotive os, if you logon with same Google account as an Android phone you'll have access to most of same apps and in sync so no need for Android auto. And I think gm has decided Apple CarPlay isn't necessary or their deal with Google means they can't or it isn't worth it.
Maybe, but my Polestar was built on Android Automotive, and they eventually added ACP in an update in late 2022. Took a few more updates to get it working
GM has been pretty public with no Carplay moving forward
I believe my daughters Bolt has ACP (she uses Android Auto). Must be a licencing dispute with Apple. I had a friend who was an app developer and he told me Apple was taking a huge cut off his revenues
That's an easy fix, it will come in a future update. It's probably due to a dispute with Apple more than anything else. The infotainment is based on Android, you don't Android Auto, this was the case with my former Polestar
There is no dispute with Apple. Entirely on GM, this is all about GM wanting software control. And given that a) the car was pulled from sale entirely due to software issues and b) customers by and large do want AA and CP, it's a probably not a smart move. Android Automotive OS isn't the same as Android Auto, so there will be apps you can run on your phone but cannot get for your car.

Thanks for correcting that. I'm sure ACP will eventually show up if people want it. The Polestar 2 came out without ACP, and eventually they pushed it out in an update late 2022
While I like Apple Maps and being able to pick a podcast from that app, I don't actually find AC that useful but it's nice that I have the same ui on my 2 cars.
Great article on battery industry. China makes 70% of all supply and 20-30% cheaper than anyone. US has to grow this. I know Hyundai has plans for a giant battery plant.

Right now I'm working with a friend who installs solar to try and expand my current solar and possibly have a separate system for my EV's, which would require batteries to limit PG&E's footprint. He was just telling me that most of the batteries here come from Tesla, and it's about a 3 to 4 month wait for batteries due to a constraint in supplies. Now we know why

if GM genuinely thinks their own platform is better then all power to them, but about the only vendor who can really get away with offering no AA/CP is Tesla IMO. Everyone loses sales to one extent or another if they don’t offer what buyers want, but the lack of AA/CP is much more likely to deter a buyer who might otherwise like a GM electric vehicle than a buyer who is looking at a Tesla.
As an aside, I think Apple is finding out that even though customers like and want CarPlay, there are limits to how much control manufacturers are willing to cede. The new generation of CarPlay was supposed to be here by now, and the reason it isn't is because no cars have been launched that support it. New gen CarPlay lets the Apple UI control many car features, and that seems to be a line the manufacturers are less willing to cross. At least for now.

Sure, and I understand that. I don't need or want CarPlay to control the vehicle itself, just control the infotainment
