Chevy Spark returns for 2026 as affordable electric crossover with 220 mile range
Chevy is resurrecting both the Spark and EUV nameplates with the all-new, affordable Chevy Spark EUV. GM hopes its new, 249-mile range EV will be a “game changer” that helps accelerate the company’s EV transition in export markets.
There’s an old saying that goes, “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.” And to that end it seems that GM’s Chevy brand has figured out a way to put China’s electric technology lead to work in their favor, rebadging the Baojun Yep Plus SUV built by the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture.
Meet the all-new 2026 Chevy Spark EUV – a compact, Bronco-lookin’ four-door crossover that’s ready to take South America, Africa, and the Middle East by storm
Like its Baojun-badged siblings, the new MY2026 Chevrolet Spark EUV is powered by a single 75 kW (101 hp), 180 Nm (130 lb-ft) motor driving the front wheels. Power comes from the Baojun’s 42 kWh LFP battery that, with regenerative braking, is good for up to 360 km (220 miles) on the NEDC driving cycle.
The new Spark is also equipped with a 10.1″ infotainment screen and 8.8″ digital instrument cluster. Interestingly, the Spark EUV ships with support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard – two technologies that GM claim lead to “unsafe” driver in North America.Built to turn heads and spark excitement, the 2026 Chevrolet Spark EUV debuts in the ACTIV trim, boasting a bold, boxy exterior, a sleek two-tone roof, and sporty 16” wheels. In addition to basically re-using R&D and tooling budgets from the Baojun brand, the 2026 Chevy Spark EUV keeps its price low with relatively low EV tech. The charging, for example, tops out at “just” 50 kW – a far cry from the 300-plus kW from Tesla, let alone the 480 kW from some of the cutting-edge Chinese brands.
The 2026 Chevrolet Spark EUV will be available in UAE, KSA, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Lebanon, Iraq, Oman, and Egypt later this Summer. No official word on pricing.

I know this is an overseas model with almost no chance of coming to the US – and that’s our loss. A practical, fun, affordable EV like this could do huge numbers if it was priced right. And with the Baojun Yep starting at less than $12,000 US in China, I can’t imagine a sub-20K MSRP would be entirely out of the question.
It’s a first for me seeing a MY towing a trailer. We were running pretty good pace in the left lane. I wasn’t letting anyone get between me and the Yukon.

I see people towing with Model Y's frequently. My coworker tows a pop up trailer and goes camping all the time. The issue is not towing, Model Y probably does it better than an ICE with it's on demand power and torque, the issue is range
A little over 90 miles of range. Out of a 40 kWh battery. Yeah, not so good.
since it says 150km for all versions with huge differences in power, i'm guessing that's not actual tested data.

We were running 80ish maybe 85 or so and the MY easily raced up alongside in the right lane. Not sure if they wanted into the left lane but they never switched lanes and eventually faded back. I looked it up, at the time we were about 25 miles from a SC. I like running with few/several random cars at a good pace on the highway. I ran behind this flat bed at this pace for a good while until their exit. Then a Kia and I rang together until we came up on a slower moving GMC Sierra who went from 5-10mph below to 10-15mph above😆. The Sierra took me all the way to my destination. I flashed the lights when I took my exit.

Here I was banking I could brake quicker/shorter than this flatbed. @bitkahuna Sit in the passenger seat and take a nap or read your kindle like my wife does when she’s not asleep.
I’m a 🐂y on the highway 😏 and yes when it’s me and others running a good pace for a while I’m not letting a slower vehicle break the line. Fall in line at the rear of the train
