Minivans are absolutely unbeatable as family vehicles, and one of the biggest reasons for that is the sliding door.

Sliding doors are the best part of a minivan! When our kids were younger, getting kids in and out was so much easier because I didn't have to worry about having enough space to get the infant seat out. Now, I don't have to worry about them swinging the door out and hitting something.

I will say - if something happened to the Rivian, I'd probably end up in an ID.buzz. Sell the Ody and replace it with a fun car.

100%. We have two young grandchildren, and getting them in and out of their car seats is so much easier with the minivan than with any other vehicle in the family. And that's before you even get to the usable cargo space behind an active third row, individual captain's chairs in the second row, aisle access to the third row and more.

If I have to park close others I absolutely rather park next to a minivan vs any other vehicle for that simple fact. Suffered a door ding last weekend due to a kid swinging the door open. Luckily it wasn’t too bad, got it fixed yesterday.

I am the exact same way, if it isn’t a minivan I will park next to a jeep, they have small doors.

I know I'm in the minority, but the day that I am in a minivan will be the day that I'm on my way to a graveyard and be permanently 6 feet under.

I just can't stand them 😀.

When my 2 boys were growing up 20 years ago we managed perfectly fine with a 4 door sedan. The trunk was big enough for all the taekwondo gear and the back seats were perfectly fine for the stages from an infant car seat , booster seat to teenager.

We even drove on the "Tail of the Dragon" in NC back in 2005 (I think) with @DaveGS4 and @bitkahuna in a fairly spirited manner and my younger son was in his booster seat.

My older son who was 9 at the time threw up a bit, but we were just fine in the GS400. 😁 No minivans needed.

Maybe if I had 3 kids we may have gotten a wagon, but definitely not a minivan, regardless of how "practica"l they are.

I always considered minivans to be overkill for our needs. I could never justify owing a vehicle that I saw as extremely boring, 100% utilitarian, too big (for my family of 4), needlessly wasteful of gas, and above all - UGLY! 😁

I'll clarify that we are all fairly "athletic/fit", and never had any issues bending down to put the kids in the car etc. Just saying....

Putting on my flame suit now as I'm sure a lot of folks will think I'm full of it.

I keep seeing that people are posting in here, but I don't see their posts. I have an email that @Hameed posted, but I only see his post in the email notification

Athleticism lol. We got our kids in and out of my 911s just fine. It was just easier for us and nicer for them to be in the van. And now we’re seeing it all over again with our grandchildren.
