I'm sure you know them but since you asked...
The seats are decent but no where near luxury seats.
The fixed headrest. I didn't know there's such think called Tesla pillow.
Fixed "panoramic" roof. I don't think anyone would leave their panoramic roof open all the times. Sometimes you want some air in too. No?
No leather
No HUD
Half designed 360. It's much better than nothing but still. Can't see jack with this.
No CarPlay
Most suspension sucks. Air suspension helps but you have to move up to higher levels.
Road/wind noise
No run flat. No spare. Would you feel comfortable traveling without a spare or RFs?
Interior is OK but a bit too simple/plain, esp the dash.

The ones that it used to lack... RCTA, trunk sensor opener, ambient lights

Wife’s 2018 3 LR AWD just turned 6. No significant issues other than the body controller going out twice and the front half of the glass roof getting a crack. Not sure on battery degradation but it’s largely irrelevant because her average commute is under 10 miles. Overall very happy with it and it’ll be bittersweet to see it go when we get the R2

Apple CarPlay?
More colour choices other than a basic 5?
20’ or 22” wheels?

Road noise, suspension and comfort has been fixed in the new Model 3 and will be fixed in the new upcoming model Y next year. Everything else you mentioned is a wish list, there are other automakers that can fulfill them

new model 3 seats are really comfortable. are they 20+ way adjustable... probably not. and i don't think they have massage. they do now have heating/cooling standard which many german luxury cars don't have except for top trims/packages.

The fixed headrest. I didn't know there's such think called Tesla pillow.
my head never seems to contact the headrest in any car so i only consider it a safety feature for avoiding whiplash.

Fixed "panoramic" roof. I don't think anyone would leave their panoramic roof open all the times. Sometimes you want some air in too. No?
i have zero interest in any part of the roof opening. i don't even care about opening the windows except for a drive through or getting a parking ticket.

No leather
everyone's different but i don't care.

No HUD
now that one i wish tesla had.

Half designed 360. It's much better than nothing but still. Can't see jack with this.
agreed it doesn't seem fully implemented which is odd seeing as how many cameras the car has.

No CarPlay
seems strategic (they don't want to help apple) and unlike other cars that NEED carplay because their infotainment sucks, tesla's is enormously full-featured plus has an app store!

Most suspension sucks. Air suspension helps but you have to move up to higher levels.
3 is VERY good now. Y has been improved but next year's big refresh will bring big improvements too.

Road/wind noise
again, new 3 is very quiet, plus has laminated glass.

No run flat. No spare. Would you feel comfortable traveling without a spare or RFs?
tons of cars this way... my ioniq 5 is the same.

Interior is OK but a bit too simple/plain, esp the dash.
i agree with you. the model 3 is a refined and quick appliance. it's not about bling and loads of buttons and lights and extra displays.

The ones that it used to lack... RCTA, trunk sensor opener, ambient lights
are you saying it has those now? i'm not sure either way since i don't drive a tesla.

6 currently.

not correct numbers, but generally 2 sizes per model, which isn't unusual.

You hit all the sweet spots 👍👍👍👍👍

As you mentioned, it's not a luxury car, but my new Model 3 now has an almost luxury ride. It doesn't have either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto because it doesn't need either. It's the best infotainment system that exists and has every app you need already.

Yes a HUD would be great, but none of the cars I've ever owned had one, so I don't really miss it

Only way anyone would prefer infotainment from a legacy brand is if they've never driven a Tesla, or Rivian.

I rent Teslas and prefer CarPlay. The infotainment in Tesla can be overwhelming to some. Give you an example, couple days ago someone suggested my old computer science teacher to airdrop a picture taken on her phone and she had no clue what that meant. Granted she’s an older lady, but imagine her inside a Tesla. She’s vaguely familiar with the functions of her iPhone.

I do it all the time, neither of my cars have a spare or run flats. Like bit said the whole industry is going that way.

Honestly it doesn't bother me. You can buy a spare to throw in the trunk when you travel if you want.

Hopefully Tesla adds it

The infotainment in a Tesla is a nice effort, but too software oriented….i would rather see some hard buttons

Personally, I want CarPlay. Why not let people have the option?

Apple CarPlay navigation on a big screen is tremendous. The level of detail in the map data and so on is astounding, it's easily the richest graphically of all the navigation apps I've ever seen, and the map data and routing is second to none these days. It now has EV integration for some vehicles including mine and it factors live data for SoC and efficiency into routings etc. It also sends routing and maps to the main dash for cars that support second screen (a few of mine do). I've yet to own a Tesla, albeit I've spent a lot of time in them, and the nav is nowhere near Apple's IMO. Other aspects Tesla is hands down the leader, but not IMO for navigation.
