so i was away a few days and had a rav4 rental. i got back today to drive my ioniq 5 back from the airport to home. aaaahhhhhhhh... the rav 4 not only hard archaic and horrible controls, but under any load the noise from the engine was just bad. cruising at highway speeds it was pretty quiet but i could still hear a quiet engine drone. when i got back to my ioniq, the silence was wonderful.

Last rental I had was a Camry SE, which has the same engine as the RAV4. It was let's just say, not a great experience. I had my foot to the floor just to make it bearable to drive. I was never more happy to return it. I feel for you man

i couldn't press the gas hard because i had passengers and the jerky gas/transmission response was so bad i didn't want to subject others to that. so i drove like a loyal consumer reports subscriber.
Hybrid is no better in fact I would argue it is worse, somehow Toyota screwed up the electric/ICE engine transition at least that was the case in the 2018 Camry I drove. My 2006 Highlander hybrid is better in this respect even after 260,000 miles. And way faster.

I see all those poor people driving their RAV4'S to work in the morning, and I just feel so badly for them 😭

In typical bit fashion, why are we discussing/reviewing an ICE vehicle in the EV forum?🙃
