It takes awhile, you have to drain the battery fully, including the reserves, then charge to 100 percent. It uses up one full charging cycle. There are 1500 charging cycles
Can the service department do a diagnostic without doing that? I had it checked two years ago and it seemed like they checked it remotely somehow so I was hoping they can do it again. I emailed the person that did it last time to see if he could check it.

It depends on which test they perform. The detailed test which Mike posted will take longer, no matter who performs it. Tesla probably won't do the detailed test unless they suspect an issue with your battery pack, like unusual range loss
My friend performed option #2 from this link. With his warranty coming to an end I think he’s getting everything checked out.
His battery/Drive train warranty won't end until 8 years/120k (whichever comes first), he can extend his other service warranty for $2k before it expires

I think he was just curious about the battery health. He didn’t mention about extending his warranty. I think he’s going to roll the dice & let it ride. 🎲🎲
He did have to get a headlight replacement covered under warranty I believe he said cost somewhere around $1200-$1300 if that sounds right which sounds crazy to me. I told him to change it himself or I would help him.

That is crazy, the headlight assembly is probably $400 OEM, I wouldn't go aftermarket, I can always tell when people install aftermarket lights, they are way too bright, and I can see them flickering in my mirror

My friend’s M3LR is in service to fix couple squeaks. However his loaner he says has MASSIVE RATTLES (his exact words via text). I assume Tesla doesn’t have time to repair their loaners if they are always loaned out. I remember last year he had a loaner Y and the HVAC stopped working during the summer in the south 🥵
Anyone else have bad experience with Tesla loaners? I hope the Model 3 I have reserved for upcoming vacation is problem free. It’s a 2023 base. Also any way I can check if I make it from Vegas to Los Angeles on single charge or how’s the charging infrastructure along that route?
I just found an EV6 available if I decide to change my mind.

A couple weeks ago I had a Model 3 rental from Avis (I didn’t even request and EV but I was happy to get it) and it had about 30k miles on it. The wind noise from the drivers side window was awful and I kept checking to make sure the window was all the way up. The plastic trim under the left side bolster was separating from the seat too. Still a good rental since I didn’t have to recharge before I turned it back in.

I've only had one Tesla loaner, a 2018 Model 3 base, and it was fine, no issues except it was pretty beat up and limited to 80 mph.
You'll have zero issues going from Vegas to LA, but you are going to have to make one charging stop. I've done almost 25k in my Model Y, two hot summers and a bunch of trips with no issues at all. HVAC works perfectly, even on a day that reached 112 F.
Unless you're hotel has charging, Tesla would be the only EV I would take on trip. Although Tesla has now opened super charging for Rivian, Ford and GM

Ket me check their rates and compare it to what I have.

I will be SC’ing unless the Airbnb has an EV charger. Yeah my friend informed me the EV6 can charge at 350kw but told me good luck finding a charger capable of 350kw. I may be sticking with the Tesla. I prefer a LR but ones I’m seeing are 2020 models. I’ve only rented 2022-2023 models as the 2021 and older have the older chip (not sure I would notice the difference) guess you can say I’m accustomed to 2022+ models.
