I felt the owner of an S next to me staring at me so I turned to see what's wrong. I thought he wanted me to move a little so he could back out because the space was tight. But it turned out, he caught me checking the wheel. He said, "I know it hurts. But don't worry. Take it to the shop so and so by freeway... they will fix it for you no problem. It'll cost you less than 200." The SA gave me two options, fix there or send out. I could get it back same day if fixed there or 3 days if sent out. I couldn't tell what they did. Looks like original to me.
Thanks for the info. I don't have a wheel and tire package so will probably try to find a good local shop. I looked at the web site of the dealership (it's a large one) and they don't show any wheel repair service. but I give them a call to confirm.

I need to make an appointment next week for a wheel repair at the dealer on my GS. Sigh. Couldn’t blame that one on the wife. It was all mine.

I can confidently say I have never curbed a rim.....however I have also ripped parts off when off-road so I've paid my hazard tax already!

So I had emailed one of those online part sites, you know the ones that Lexus dealers have too, with a picture of the wheel and my VIN to see if they could point me towards the right wheel. I got this "1990s Mercedes Dealer Poop Don't Smell" response:

We require very specific information for a wheel order. The only way to confirm a match is to get a number off the back of the wheel. It is generally on one of the spokes. It will start with the letter "A" followed by ten numbers. We will not process an order with out this number.
Well F you very much too then LOL. I thanked them for being so service focused and told them I would get the wheel from someone else.

Just go to your MB dealer that sold you the car. They will take care of you.

I was really just curious as to what the cost for the right replacement wheel would be.

The dealership just farms out repairs like this. If I'm going to have somebody machine the wheel properly it'll be the people who should have done it in the first place. I'm going to live with the repair for a little bit and see if it bothers me.

You said you were gonna buy a new wheel? The MB dealer should be able to take care of that.

I was frustrated. I'm not spending $1,500 on a new wheel. I'll get this repair done to where I'm happy with it.

Dealer directly though will be more expensive than ordering it through one of those dealers online though

Yeah I have slight curbage on my front driver wheel, it’s not bad but I see it. Will probably have wheel refinished eventually. I’m usually not THAT meticulous with my cars but the truck is really in just that good of shape.

It does make sense IMO. On a nice car very minor stuff will drive you crazy and lead to replacements.

Yeah I would just have it fixed/repaired. I can't see what they did and I personally won't care. His is a lease too. Mine is not. Even when it's noticeable, I would be the only one that can see when I wash the car. Not worth 1500 at least now. But my car is much less expensive.

Yeah the wheel doesn’t need to be replaced, it can be refinished it just needs to be done the right way. It’s just frustrating that they did specifically what I didn’t want them to
do…

The repair is really well done for what it is, it’s just not what I took it there to have done. It was only $60 more to refinish the whole wheel, that was a no brainer.

it’s hard to get it to come out in a picture, but to the right the window with the AMG logo is what was refinished. If you compare it to the window on the left that is factory, the refinished one is nowhere near as smooth a finish or as glossy. Maybe they can wet sand it and polish it and not have to do the whole wheel, that would be fine.

They emailed me back and asked me to send pictures, not very apologetic but we will see.

It looks fine to me, just try to forget about it. Nobody ever will know but you, but I do get it. The curbed rim I look at, it's driver front side so I'm gonna rotate them so I won't see it (until I get rim refinished), lol.

Also I think many of us have curbed a rim, seems like it.
