That car might be a Jensen Interceptor. Not sure though.

Astonished that nobody knew Toyota had a V8 in the generation. And nobody had any clue what full-time 4WD was. No even the older die hard car guys
That's partly because the dividing-line, mechanically and electronically, between full-time 4WD and AWD can be vague and confusing). One clearly overlaps into the other.

I had so much fun
Agreed...always liked classic shows myself. Went to them regularly before my left knee and leg got weak.

This one is for MM

Thanks for posting. That's a representative of the early-mid-70s Buick Skylark/Apollo line. Not really representative of the Buick line, nor particularly worthy of a Buick tri-sheld logo....it was a more-or-less rebadged Chevy Nova compact. And, with the 350 (5.7L) V8, it was the rough equivalent of the sport-oriented Chevy Nova SS 350.

You mean the only 4Runner in the picture that's right in the center and matches the description of Jill's? Thats probably it.

Sooooo this happened today:

Ran into a “gas station pole”. Ultimately it was my fault but kinda not. My dock left my brand new boat out in the water and sun which I wasn’t happy about. It should have been put up Sunday morning— I’m paying good money for it to be kept out of the sun and water. So I go to back up to go visibly check the boat. Because I was irritated I didn’t use the camera, the parking sensors came on but it was too late. I’m actually surprised how calm I am about it, no biggie. Lexus has their own collision center. But yeah I could have gone without this happening today. Those I'm not really sure why they are there, this was nowhere near a gas pump and they look stupid there anyway.

Lol the kicker is I get to look at that pole for the rest of my life every time I take the boat out. Btw LX did kick it back noticeably. Impact was a crunch not a shock. No whiplash, nothing even close.

I’m guessing 10 grand minimum.

I did something very similar except it was back in June. A crazy person in an Astro van was reversing at a high rate of speed through a parking lot and I tried to avoid him. Ended up hit a pole with rear side/corner of the car.

Bumper damage was similar but the quarter panel got crushed and I busted a tail light. No trunk lid damage. The worst part of about it is the car just went in to get fixed on Tuesday. The body shop was backed up for 3 months! All of the high end shops in my area were giving me the same timeline.

As I remember, Jill's older 4Runner was a little older than that (and she didn't tell us what color it was), but I might have been mistaken.

She DID say, however, when she first got it, that her new 4Runner, not the old one, was dark blue...which matches the color in the photo.

Yeah around here it's a long wait too. I guess it will just sit, beyond getting estimates. I'm not driving a wrecked truck. That's way too walk-of-shamey lol. Went and filled up the LS430. Nothing is more comfortable than that car, at least no car I've ever been in. At least I don't have to deal with a rental etc. etc.

Oh no! Yeah, $10k. My trunk lid on the LS460L was $7,800 and they didnt have to do anything to the bumper. But it will be good as new.

Haha I was the same way. My car sat in the garage until the car was ready for the body shop. I actually did end up taking a rental though because I'm going to use all my benefits that I'm entitled to on my insurance plan even though I have other cars. I was able to get a luxury rental. The BMW 530i I received is quite boring and certainly not a LX570 but it is quite comfortable.

For sure, life happens. I really have calmed down over the last couple years though because in reflection I was shocked how much this didn't phase me. I think in reflection after all these back issues and surgeries, extremely tough PT I've had I've learned to not really sweat the small stuff. I'll take it to the new Lexus collision center today or tomorrow, get an estimate and repair date, (hopefully not too far out) pay the deductible, and that will be that. I'm glad I didn't run into someone's car or hurt anyone or myself.

Yeah like I said, very walk-of-shamey.... LOL LX is sitting hidden in the garage until fixed. I don't want to fuss with a rental, if we needed 2 cars I would.

Sorry to hear about the hit on the LX, hopefully it doesn't cost too much/take too long and they do a flawless job.

Well I got screwed on the Escalade rental in Orlando lol. They had a GLS450 reserved for me which would have been great, then they rented it out from under me and I wound up with a Suburban with the front end completely out of line. They did credit me $250 back. Oh well.

What were you doing in Orlando? Another trip to Disney World for the kids? If so, I wouldn't complain about having an extra $250 in your pocket...at Disney World, you'll need it, particularly with a family. Also keep in mind that a Suburban is an Escalade with a little less bling and sound-insulation. And the wheels on an Escalade can get out of line as easily as a Suburban, particularly now that GM no longer uses a fixed, durable live-axle in rear for their big truck-based SUVs.

And, talk about co-incidences between you and me, although it is not auto-related, I got an unexpected extra $250 today myself.....Virginia deposited the $250 tax-rebate in my bank account that they are sending out to many taxpayers in 2022 to help deal with inflation. This is not the usual springtime tax-refund...it is, in effect, a state-issued Stimulus check, somewhat like the Federal Stimulus checks on 2020 and 2021, which were issued during the pandemic.
