My G63 is getting 12.6mpg average over the last 1000mi., too much city driving lol. I've been driving the 911 cab lately though as summer weather finally greeted the PNW this month. 19mpg is much better.

This is the 4.0L T? if so, that's not too bad for city driving
That type of driving is where you really see the penalty for engine size.
Oh yeah, and you can't ever get it near peak TQ so it's impossible to accelerate/pulse along plus you constantly have to slow and stop. Hybrids have a big edge here and auto stop start helps as well if you are okay with dripping oil flow repeatedly.

As in MB G63?
If so, that is one sweet ride.
Like to hear what you like about it and what you don't, if you like to tell us.

That's not bad for... the name. Now the naming makes sense. Lol I think GX V8 is somewhere near there. And 4GS F sports V6 too. I remember some reported mid teens. It's a nice car but mpg is terrible for its size. May be why they dropped it?

Well, my IS350 averaged 19 mpg, my 2013 Sienna averages around 22 mpg, my daughters 2006 Camry SE averages 23 mpg. The car with the best MPG's I owned was a 2018 Civic Si...it had a 1.5L turbo 205 hp (237 with a tune) and averaged 30 mpg. On long highway trips I could get almost 40 mpg's....but the way I drove it most of the time I was averaging around 26 mpg
Our 330i is shockingly good on gas. 31.3 MPG lifetime average, mixed city/highway. Idk how they do it. Even my GLI that was lighter and less powerful was only in the mid-to-high 20s on average.

It's all in the tuning and gearing, BWM's are known for their tall gearing. You probably see those really good numbers mostly in steady highway driving

2L Turbo. BMW's engine tuning tends to be on point as well.

Yeah I grew up in LA, and I wouldn't wish LA (or SoCal) traffic on my worst enemies
Spouse drove from our said area (Hollywood/W.H.) to Torrance and back every day for 2 years, about 16 miles. Hour and a half minimum each way, usually.
We didn't want to uproot our whole lives to live in South Bay suburbs which is why we choose the happening area to live in. Traffic in that city is so awful we'd just stay home even on Saturdays. It didn't take long to start to plan to move back here, lol.
Yep. I'm just saying, even if it was getting just 30 MPG that'd be impressive given the class of vehicle. They have come a long way.

Yeah... if you notice above, it seems the ZF has shorter gears 1-4 and taller gears 5-8 when compared to the Aisin in our IS. Obviously those taller cruising gears help.

that must of been a nightmare. Early in my IT career I worked for a company that had contracts with the City of LA and County, I used to drive all over downtown LA all the way to Ontario to troubleshoot and repair their computers. I had a Corolla with a 5 speed manual...you can imagine how much my leg hurt at the end of the day....
