Ever been to San Francisco....especially recently?
About a zillion times. Much of what was great about the city was in the 70s. Winterland had the best concerts. Haight had great drugs and wasn't the cesspool it later became. Fisherman's Warf had casual affordable places to eat that locals enjoyed, not the god awful tourist trap it became. Chinatown had the best illegal 4th of July stuff, including M100s. The Ultra Room was fun for a young teen. From Candlestick Park to Bay Meadows race track (south of the city) and even the historic Spenger's Groto just on the other side of the bridge in Berkeley... all gone. But hey, you can take a boat to Alcatraz and see where Capone slept... oh how fun!
Homeless wandering around aimlessly and sticking needles in their arm isn't THAT bad unless you happen to be in certain areas where most folks don't visit anyway. The turd map was funny though.

Gas prices in particular often fluctuate independent of the general inflation, but as I was saying in my previous post, we've already seen $5 gas twenty years ago in 2006-2007, which is $15 in todays money. I won't be surprised if we see $10 gas soon.

Whether in today’s standards or not, that $5 range we had in the mid-to-late 2000’s is around $8.50–$15 today so we are not sweating the over $6/gal for prem now. Yes, I know it’s a struggle for some families, like it was a pinch for us back then when we had a young family. Now, not so much. We don’t hope so but… Until the gas prices reach $10/gal, we are okay to pay what we do now.
My gripe is the cost of decent daycare has tripled since we had to pay for daycare and is a challenge for a lot of younger families. The struggle is real for younger folks to pay a mortgage, car note, daycare and medical ins. You have to be making bookoo bucks right out the gate to meet those standards. But that’s a subject for another inflation / cost of living thread, not here.
up a buck 47 Heard the Spirit Airlines ran out of money to buy fuel
Was passing by Newark airport on the turnpike earlier today, a bunch of Spirit planes sitting parked. Wallmart of the sky, lol. Years back my wife and I made the mistake of flying Spirit to Miami, on the way back we decided to take a loss and fly a normal airline.
