Yeah, unfortunately we found out all our bases in the region were the real targets, as well as allies. America is better suited attacking countries like Venezuela and Cuba who can't fight back 🤣
The dumbest thing the Iranians did after we and the Israelis attacked was to retaliate by lobbing missiles and drones into American bases in the countries near and surrounding Iran......Qatar, UAE, Oman, Abu Dhabi, etc..... By doing so, the Iranians made themselves NEW enemies (and potential new enemies) that, before, were either neutral or somewhat aligned with them.
Moral of the story......you don't get yourself out of a hole by digging it deeper.

You got it completely wrong. Moral of the story is that the GCC Arab nations don't trust the US anymore. Iranians promised they would hit energy infrastructure and US military bases, and they did just that. Here is another moral of the story...attack a country that can actually defend itself and you get this trying to rescue one pilot:
Trump was warned by his top Generals this would happen, and it was so predictable anyone with an ounce of sense saw this coming. Nobody outside of Faux News watchers over the age of 80 even believe the US is winning this. Gas prices and the Iranians now controlling world energy distribution are proof enough we lost this on day 1. Trump thought this would last 4 days and be another Venezuela, instead he got mud in his face which is why you see the unhinged Truth Socials

Well, if the Iranians are so great at defending themselves, then why, outside of drones, is their Navy and Air Force almost completely gone? They lost six more of their Navy vessels just yesterday alone. This is not Persian fantasy....you can't bring them back by simply rubbing Aladdin's Lamp and calling on the Genie LOL.

Listen, I promised Bit no more politics, so I'm going to have to honor that and I won't be responding to any nonsense trying to defend this stupid ******* war that's made life more expensive increased the already astronomical deficit, plunged the the world into an energy crisis and made the United States of America a laughing stock and now everyone just thinks we are a paper tiger...thus China announcing they will be ignoring US sanctions

If their Navy and Air Force are completely gone why can't we close this deal and get the Strait back open? Ask yourself critical questions about the narrative that you're being fed.
I don't see where discussing the war (the cause of the thread-topic high gas prices) is politics per se (that's international news), but if so, then so be it.
As for the high gas prices, first, I'm glad that I don't really use that much gas to start with, and second, steps can be taken to minimize what gas we DO use. Things like combining trips, keeping tire pressure up, minimizing engine warm-ups and stop/go traffic, and clearing excess unneeded weight out of the trunk.

Without getting into a political discussion, there are working class people in my neighborhood, as well as technicians that drive everyday and spend hundreds of dollars a week on gas. As I recall you are retired. So please, I respectfully say your tips do no good for those people who are already stretching their budget

Drive an EV…or drive a 3-cylinder

Paid $4.49 per gallon for CORN. Regular was over $5 now.
I live where the corn is grown, and yet current E85 prices are somehow right in between midgrade and premium. Take the 25-30% lower energy content/gallon into account and it costs roughly $8 to get you as far as a $5 gallon of regular does.

If their navy fleet and air force is "almost gone", they wouldn't be able to block the Strait of Hormuz. You are falling for propaganda

Last throes of a dying regime. Navy ships are all sunk. They have some remaining so-called Fast Boats. Six more sunk via attack helicopters after harassing merchant vessels which none were struck.
As Iran runs out of refined fuels while at the same time runs out of storage for oil, it will be interesting to see the impending collapse unfold. Meanwhile... mines are being cleared and two US flagged merchant ships successfully transited the straight.
