Probably the best thing that we (and, by "we", I mean the driving-public-at-large) can do to help lower gas prices is to simply reduce demand for it. That means driving in the most economical manner, not making unnecessary trips, keeping tire pressures up, clearing excess weight out of the vehicle, and maybe forgoing that long driving-vacation this year. If gas stations cannot sell much fuel at $4-5 a gallon or more, they won't have much choice but to lower the price....even if it cuts into their profits.
that doesn't math. even if u.s. consumers dropped their gas usage by say 50% (not happening), the GLOBAL demand won't change hardly at all, plus all the industrial, transportation, power and other massive uses for gas and oil.
on a personal note, i'm taking a longer trip soon and it won't cost any more than usual.

You have claimed victory every time the price has dropped and every time its shot right back up lol. I suppose at some point you'll be right
conversely, every time it goes up others claim it's the end of the world.

I haven't seen anyone here claim its the end of the world. Just valid claims of the elevated gas prices will have an effect on the entire world and a more significant effect on people living pay check to pay check. Is it that you disagree or don't think these are valid claims / arguments?
Maybe I missed a post when someone said it was the end of the world?
Conversely, there has been multiple claims of the elevated gas prices being temporary and that its now over, just for the prices to shoot right back up after a few hours / 1 day. Do you think it is valid to say its over?
IMO one claim is true and one isn't, which can be supported by facts. However, we may have different opinions.

I also have a V6 minivan, and drive a wide variety of cars and am considering buy a car right now with a 4cyl.
Naturally aspirated 4 cyls still feel crappy. Most turbo 4s also still feel crappy some feel okay, none I have driven feel as good as a 6. Hybrid turbo 4s are what have surprised me. For instance I would buy (and am negotiating on right now) a TX500h with the hybrid turbo 4. I would not buy a TX350 with the same turbo 4 and no hybrid, it feels crappy. If I could get a TX550h+ with the PHEV and the V6 easily I would pay the $7,000 more and get that though/

For people for whom money is tight, rising gas prices which raise the cost of everything is a huge, huge deal. This political argument that somehow this isn't a major problem is ridiculous.
Fortunately, eggs are optional, gas isn't. That extra $6 you're saving on eggs is probably now paying a fraction of the increase on your utility bills.
Oh.. that reminds me. I had completely forgot to address your concerns over my utility bills in regard to my home heating (natural gas). My apologies. It's getting later in the Spring season so we aren't using much heat here but natural gas prices have not been abnormally high compared to recent years. Here's a 5 year chart for your reading pleasure.

Which 3-4 cylinder vehicle are you referring to exactly?

So when this is all over, will fuel prices roll back like walmart to say before all this started or will their be a new floor in pricing?
It will go down but I have a feeling $4 will become more of the new floor. The irony of this is the people in charge charging the rules and laws to be pro ICE are doing everything in their power that actually helps EV adaption. It’s so beyond dumb.Satire is dead.
There are basically two or three people on this forum celebrating high gas prices and the energy crisis hitting the rest of the world. We haven't felt the pain others are feeling yet because we are paying for our adventure using borrowed money, but what you borrow you have to pay back eventually, or go bankrupt. Where have I heard about bankruptcy being used as a financial tool...never mind. But thankfully, polls show most Americans are not happy with the current situation.
This morning passed several gas stations and most are hitting the $6 mark for Regular and above $6 for Premium, $7 plus for diesel, of course driving my Tesla fueled from Electricity from the sun. But that doesn't mean I don't feel others pain, I do
The current talk at my workplace is that tomatoes are $5-$6 a pound lol. So yes, even EV drivers feel the pain
My wife buys tomatoes from a local Mexican supermarket as well as an Indian market where they are much lower than the chain supermarkets, but the high prices hikes will eventually roll to them as well. I'm thinking about starting my garden up again. Last summer I grew more tomatoes than we could use
