Yeah it does work that way, we produce more than we use so as long as the refineries are here it will never affect us. Canada is the USs hat after all
i have been told May will see 30% increase across the board in all vehicle lubricants.....idk about it doesnt effect us bit. It may not effect you, but fleets and other heavy users will be passing on costs to the end consumer.
Waited to fill up until I got home. But the local Costco was up 12 cents yesterday and another dime today. Currently $5.40. That Kwik Trip in WI is still at $5.20.
Another 20 cents today brings it to $5.60. +42 cents so far this week, averaging +10.5 cents per day. Whee!
That IS happening in many places. I have employees in India, for example, who are under rationing orders for both fuel AND food. There are shortages in many European countries as well.
You don't see it in the US because we produce more than we consume, so while our prices are still driven by the constrained worldwide supply, we don't have shortages ourselves. Except for Jet Fuel, which is a problem for everybody. The IEA announced last week that the European supply will be exhausted in 6 weeks, and US airlines are cancelling flights and eliminating routes to conserve the supply here.
We are also in the midst of the largest release of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in history, which is both easing the supply shock and keeping prices from absolutely skyrocketing. The IEA members pledged an initial tranche of 400M barrels over 120 days back in March, 172M of which are coming from the US reserves. Contrast this with the start of the Ukraine war in 2022, when the first round of release was 182M barrels total, 60M coming from the US SPR. This time around, the US contribution alone is nearly as large as the 32-country alliance's initial release was then.
We are about halfway through that coordinated release, so if the situation continues into early July and the SPR release is not expanded beyond its already massive scope, things will get really interesting.
Japan is rationing energy as well. I am at the point of always assuming things are way worse than what is told to the public by our current govt.
Premium is close to $4.50 here at some spots I’ve seen. We don’t drive much monthly. Obviously the prices of everything continues to climb. Everything is connected to the black gold.

You did what was best for you and your family... I get it. You would have come around and liked The South lol.
It's been a journey! I actually accepted it on Tuesday then quickly changed my mind and rescinded on Wednesday. Just didn't feel right for us.

Thanks! My wife and I still plan to retire in sunny California, but for now we'll carry on here to finish out our careers and to help the kids get going with their lives.

Wow that development to the side of you went up quick!
I have several friends and family members with no kids totally by choice too.
God, I can't even imagine how much money I would have if I had no kids!
Lol that's what my sister says.... She has 2. But yeah quite a few friends of mine didn't have kids, and it wasn't like this generations ago. We're long in the tooth now. My Goddaughter is in college (she's my best friend from grade school'x daughter), that stuns me.
I quite like kids, I have nephews and a niece.
They worship us it's really cute. They love the SL, my youngest nephew thought it was cool how the glass lowers when you open the doors then closes to reseal it, lol. I was like "Buddy that ain't nothin new!"

Just like a Tesla!
Oh wait... Gas is just above $4.50 for 87 here today. That's the highest it's been in this area for as long as I can remember.
As if the people in power have been serious people in the recent memory. It's fair to say that many struggling people had high hopes in the current conman, I don't think anyone has anymore faith in the system.
The advice I give to young people is to not have children, this world is too messed up.
That’s terrible advice lol
NEVER rely on the government to have a happy/successful life.
Thankfully we are in America and not in some Communist country!
Most people are lazy to learn about simple things that generate income or how the stock market works. It’s always the system is against me etc. There has never been an easier time to become a millionaire without actually doing anything that special but you have to grind hard for 10+ years if you don’t come from $$$.
