Thats what I thought he meant I just wanted to be sure lol.

He'd have gotten towed because I reported it to the building management and they asked me if I wanted the car towed and I told them no since I had unplugged it.

When I left the office this afternoon he was gone and didn't come banging on the door so hopefully he got the message.

yup, i have 2. one on ioniq and the other on the lc500. so probably not what you're referring to, but i did find an issue on the ioniq 5 with this... the usb in the lower center for the carplay plugin stays powered when the car is 'off'. this was a problem for me because when the phone is wirelessly connected to the wireless carplay dongle, it ISN'T connected to my house wifi (can't be connected to two wifi's at once) and because my cell service in the house is lousy too, if i was in the area in my home near the garage, i'd suddenly have no connectivity on my phone. took me a while to realize it was because i was getting reconnected to the wireless carplay adapter/dongle. sooo.... i got usb switch cable so i could turn it off when i went in the house!

do you precondition your battery every day?

see above for solution.

I had one for my previous car and while it worked OK most of the time, when it didn't it was a PITA. The most common issue was my wife and I both drive the I5 (and prior car it replaced) for most all our in town daily driving, and using two different phones to connect to the wireless carplay dongle was always problematic requiring multiple steps to re-setup and connect to a different phone. Also often slow to connect - she'd complain she was most of the way to the gym in the morning before it synced up.

so apparently a lot of 'earlier' and still available wireless carplay adapters were basically too weak/slow in processing to be reliable. the one i got was apparently some new generation and the reviews are very good. i've literally had ZERO issues with mine on either car. have also used multiple phones on it with no issues. when i travel i take one of them so i can just plug it in the rental car and know it will work.

yes, i think i've taken mine in twice (maybe i missed a recall). the second time i took it in was quite recently, so i'm not sure if this latest one applies. either way, i've had zero issues with 12v battery.

I have a schedule set on both Tesla's to precondition the battery before 8 AM Mon thru Friday before I leave for work. It also warms the cabin. I can't really predict my wife's schedule because sometimes she leaves at 7:30 am and sometimes after 11. So I just showed her how to manually warm and defrost the Ioniq through the app before she leaves. Right now my son is on vacation and doesn't start his classes again until January 21st so is using the Y, after he goes back to school she will switch to the Y, as she's piling on the miles on Ioniq

He’s probably at home reading his manual on how to lock his charger. 🤣

Man you’re like my wife. Sometimes she will have people towed if they park in her spot especially if she doesn’t has spot to park in at all.

So you think it’s perfectly reasonable for this person to block access to my office and leave a note telling people they can’t use our door because he couldn’t be bothered to turn his car around? So my staff should just go home for the day?

We were raised differently.

I'd be half tempted to get my chain out and move his car for him.

No reasonable person is going to think something like that is okay. I would say the parker just didn't even notice the marked door there but then he doubled down by putting that sign on his car telling people not to use my door lol

No no no not at all. I was just joking around saying plug ins need love too. Blocking the door 👎

My wife would’ve had it towed. 👀

I feel better now lol

No reason to have it towed once it was unplugged. If the plug had been locked I would have had it towed.

Like your wife though if someone is parked in my marked space I will absolutely have their car towed away, Thats just so disrespectful.

so in reading up about preconditioning, i read that it's only necessary (or recommended) when really cold and prior to *DC* charging. if that's true, why do you do it every day in the morning, or is it just to warm up the inside of your car in frozen california?

since i've only dc charged 3 or 4 times, i'm not concerned about not having used preconditioning, but will consider on future trips in frozen florida.

any reason you don't have L2 charger installed yet? Hyundai paid for my (Chargepoint) charger and a chunk of the install if i recall, either that or i'm thinking of a tax credit or refund.
