How could you possibly know that??? Private sector usually does it way better than Uncle Sam. You do realize 70-80% of electricity comes from fossil fuels in this nation, correct?
The days of cars spewing disgusting exhaust are lonnnnnng over and have been for decades.
My 20 year old LS is a SULEV. Cars are cleaner than ever.
Do you know why it's cleaner? It's called emissions regulations. Jan of last year I was in the Middle East where cars have no emissions controls, including CATS, and they use Diesel to power their power plants. Here is the result:
That's not fog in the skyline. This was actually a pretty clear day. I couldn't go out without a mask, and when I got back to the states I had severe asthma that took 3 or 4 months to clear up and was on high doses of Prednisone. There's your ZERO government regulations at work
And they are 10 percent now in North America (Kelly Bluebook) .html
7% BEVs in the USA (not North America) for 2023 aligning with what I said, it says in the first paragraph of your source.

Did the government cure Polio? Invent penicillin? Invent air conditioning? Set all the brilliant people in this great nation loose and see the mind blowing stuff they come up with. That would include keeping beautiful places beautiful. We don’t need regulations for that.

You CAN control it. Don’t even let it in your head that they have that much pull on you.

I hate to break it to you, but the government funded research that lead to air conditioning, the Polio vaccine and Penicillin. They even invented the first Internet, which you and I use every day to argue
My point was my 20 year old car was a SULEV wayyyyyyyyyyy before anyone was asking/requiring it to be.
Your car is not clean it is cleaner. It still uses 3-5x more energy to move down the road vs. an EV and pollutes the air doing it. Gas engine will never be clean and it will never be sustainable. This shouldn't be controversial.

A desire to make money cured those things and invented those things. You need regulations to compel for profit industries and companies to measure their desire for profit over the greater good.
But this is debate content.

They dont have any pull on me lol, you’re the one letting what they do or don’t do make you angry.
I simply don’t care. There will be plenty of great and environmentally responsible and sustainable cars. I also would like my kids to live in a clean world…

Notice I didn’t say internet.
And SW, I’m not angry! Lol.
It’s like in the movie Contagion, the private virologist (Elliot Gould) solves it. Then he gives it to the CDC.
It should be possible to make a close loop transportation system, the only input is losses incurred by recycling which is never 100% efficient. I think long term we can get to 90% less pollution. The tricky part is recycling plastics it is very difficult or impossible need to figure out a sustainable plastic like material. Battery materials that's already being done and aluminum is the most recyclable substance there is.
I don’t call people things, like delusional, who think we’re all in for BEVs, but it’s okay I guess. There’s a gigantic country between the tony coasts that many seem to forget.
7% will hover near 10, maybe 15% and then plateau after that. That’s my semi-long term outlook.

Do you think it's that simple? Every drug or medical device that is invented has to go through a process where they prove to the FDA that's is safe and won't kill or cripple you. I wouldn't take any drug unless I knew it was safe, and I'm not taking the word of a Billion dollar company that it is. It's called regulations, and any product that has the potential to cause harm is regulated to make sure it doesn't. Doesn't always work, but most of the time it does
