Eh, a little harsh . I think Tesla is very predictable. It's their timelines that can be sketchy
it actually wasn't intended as a negative... it means tesla is VERY AGILE, which is a good thing. to think how fast they've put up plants in china, germany, and texas is amazing.
and unpredictability is a huge asset against competitors.
The graph and the link is for total new car sales, not of total new gasoline car sales. It includes gas, EV, hybrids, hydrogen and plug in...
I meant to tag it total car sales not gas sales. But it's useful data, overall market is shrinking but EV sales are growing. Some would have us believe hybrid sales are growing but leave out important context, they are replacing pure gas sales.

yes hybrid sales are replacing pure gas sales....just like EV sales are replacing pure gas sales as well.
Self awareness is important. If the media and the government are making you not want to buy something or are making you angry, they are affecting you just the same as if they were making you want to buy something. Just have an open mind and practice ambivalence. If you "hate" something...you aren't ambivalent to it.
Right, but that’s easy for you to say when you say you don’t mind government regulation/laws interfering with cars. Killing every V8 for a virtue signal is different than airbags and seat belts. Cars would still be just about as safe without regulations I would wager, though I don’t mind bi-partisan ones. There is a difference. We don’t need the government interference in a free market, it always spells disaster. Are you REALLY satisfied that in 2024 the most you can get out of an Accord is 204hp? Car and Driver has turned into propaganda, they all have.
I’m not angry, lol. It’s just disappointing.
Hate may be a strong word but the mainstream news is just fake 95% of the time, or they withhold stories, narratives and points of view purposely and skew it. Or all three at once. And people eat it up. They think we are just absolutely stupid, so yeah… I’m not a fan.

Toyota is replacing gas only with hybrid, EV's are replacing gas cars including hybrids. It should be obvious what this means.

There is no way. Also, emissions are also about safety they kill thousands of people every year. The farther you live from a city center the healthier you are because you are not breathing exhaust fumes.

Edit: C&D’s latest
Now we all are supposed to want hybrids instead.
So what you are saying is that without government regulations, everything would be hunky dory? Asbestos and lead paint used in commercial buildings and homes would just go away by itself? Chemical dumping in rivers would just magically disappear? And the pollution I grew up in in 1970's/1980's Los Angeles would have just evaporated without all the emission laws and regulations enacted? Think carefully about what you are saying, and pass over to me whatever that stuff is you are smoking

How could you possibly know that??? Private sector usually does it way better than Uncle Sam. You do realize 70-80% of electricity comes from fossil fuels in this nation, correct?
The days of cars spewing disgusting exhaust are lonnnnnng over and have been for decades.
My 20 year old LS is a SULEV. Cars are cleaner than ever.

You think everyone has to have laws to make a smart decision or guide them.
LA would be just as clean without Uncle Sam. Cars probably wouldn’t shut off at lights though.

Well, you and I live in a different world. I've travelled to countries without regulations, and the air and water is toxic. I would rather live in a country with regulations than without. Doesn't mean everything the government does is good, but it also doesn't mean everything they do is bad
I just don’t care. The government is going to do what it’s going to do, I can’t control that and it has no bearing on what I like and don’t like.
At the end of the day, we can’t keep burning fossil fuels into the atmosphere. Something has to change.
AMIRIZA is right, you need to visit some places where there are no regulations. No way LA would be as clean as it is today lol. Regulations have forced carmakers to make cars much more efficient, safer, cleaner. Regulations ended leaded fuel…regulations brought us airbags…
Not personal toward you, but I just want everyone to notice that everyone makes blanket statements.
EVs were 7% of cars last year.
And not long ago they were less than 1%. The data is crystal clear EVs are replacing gas cars.

60% comes from fossil fuel, of that 40% is natural gas. EVs are cleaner than petrol even powered by coal but since more comes from natural gas and renewables it makes EVs far cleaner.

There is no such thing as a clean petrol engine, only cleaner. Air in most any large city is proof.
