Thanks, I like how your cutter rolls the edge, which looks more finished. I realize the other end needs cut differently to slip over.
Others wanted their tips to be a larger diameter, thus necessitating the removal of the surrounds. I, like you, just want them to be more visible. I like the surrounds and will eventually black them out with vinyl wrap. I had given up on extending the tips until I saw your post. Removing the surround and leaving the mounting bracket exposed would drive me nuts.
Extending the tips may also cut down on the discoloration of the surrounds now that I drive more in Sport+ mode.

Yeah, that was exactly my reasoning for this project. I wanted to keep the surrounds intact and I just wanted to be able to see the dang quad tips.
And you're correct, you get 2 nice, clean ends on 2 cut pieces with the pipe cutter...then you have to break out some sort of saw.
how do U get the rounded end instad of a straight 90 cut?
rmbrewer is correct. The rounded end is the end cut with the pipe cutter. You have to apply a good deal of pressure as you're making the cut, and it just slightly bends over the end as it's cutting through the material. The 304 grade Stainless I'm using in this DIY is more pliable than a more rigid metal that would make a less rounded cut. 316 Stainless would do the same. I chose 304 for its corrosive resistant properties. Having a lot of nickel in it, it does pretty well...especially where I live, (Atlanta).

^^^ or, perhaps we could use a flaring tool to spread the pipe a bit more open (rather than closed) at the visible tip end for a different look.
I'm betting Timado has a flaring tool, lol.

Just to add to the conversation, I had the chrome on my valance painted as well as the exhaust ports. I very much like the look as it is now, but take no position on having the exhaust pipes show through the exhaust ports. All looks good to me and is a personal preference. Here's a pick of the rear end. I got the car back from the detailer today who had sent it to a painter to do the valance.

Blacked out looks beautiful, especially on that yellow. Good look! 👌🏾
