the black plastic shroud surrounding the stock exhaust cutouts..is it easy to remove and does it need to be replaced after the new tips are on.

Hey Tim,
How far up do your 4-in tips slide over the stock pipes?

The inboard slip on goes all the way up to the radius/bend of the OEM tail pipe. I'm guessing about 1-1/2" to 1-3/4."
The outboard slip on goes about 2" to 3" onto the OEM tailpipe.

I bought some gloss carbon fiber vinyl and am going to learn how to wrap it. Got some vinyl tool accessories and am waiting for warmer weather (cold even in my garage in North MS).

Tim's Tips. Finally a simple DIY project but my stainless pipe stock is on a slow boat from China. EDD 20 Mar 25.

They must be steaming, stern first...lol, that is slow. Gives you plenty of time to get all of your ducks in a row.

Finished the install tonight.
First thing I'll say, the clamps I ordered are pretty much overkill for this project. I mean, they are pretty beefy! Could easily just use a dab or two of high temp RTV on the outside of the OEM tail pipe and just slip the tips on...It's such a nice close tolerance fit; those damn tips wouldn't be going anywhere...and you could still pull them off if you wanted. Or just use a smaller 2 1/4" clamp. All in all, still came out pretty good.
Some pics, from lots of different angles:

I did drop this small, plastic panel underneath the exhaust, (2 screws, 2 plastic pop-out plugs). Needed more room to torque the large clamps.

That looks amazing and what should have been in the original design. I'm not really a DIYer and believe in knowing one's limitations. With that said my goal is to assemble the parts and have a muffler shop do the installation. If I can find one I'd trust doing the work to Tim's standards.

Thanks friend...much appreciated! 👍🏾
Once you get the tubing, this would be easy work for a muffler shop. The would likely just slip on the tubing to whatever length you want and tack weld it in seconds. And I agree, should have come from the factory like this. 😉

I'm not one to do a lot of modifications but I must admit that this setup looks really good....I would certainly have to pay someone to do it for me but damn that looks good.

Thanks friend, I appreciate it. And I'm the same, I usually only go as far as lowering and maybe new wheels on a vehicle. But every time I looked at the LC from the rear, it just seemed to be needing something. That's what started me down this path. I do like the OEM wheels though, so they will stay put, lol. 👍🏾

Did you decide how you intend to black out the chrome exhaust and strip on the rear? It will look outstanding once you do. Glossy or satin/flat black?

I have some vinyl wrap that matches the valance but now that the quad tips are visible, the chrome surrounds and the strip don't bother me as much. I'll leave it like this for a while and see how it suits me.... 🤔

@CrossTownTraffic is right glossy stainless exhaust tips will look awesome on a contrast with black surrounding. When tips surrounded by chrome they are visually lost.
