striker, i have if not the same, very close to the same foam gun (chemical guys) and i also use with similar pressure washer. works great.
i can't see how a regular hose could produce close to the same results but maybe it does because ultimately whether pressure washer or hose it's the same volume of water!
striker, i've never understood blowing off the water... i've tried with a leaf blower and was underwhelmed with the results.

For the drying you need to have the cars paint correct and sealed with ceramic, if you have any sort of surface imperfections it won't work as well as you would think/still require a manual dry. For example it works on the Audis but not the 460 since the 460 is only waxed not ceramic coated.

Honestly? I'd rather have the old one too. The new one is stupid expensive for one, its just not worth $170,000. $120,000 sure, but thats why there are $50,000 discounts, its dramatically overpriced. For me a 2 door car like that would always be a fun second car, it wouldn't be a daily driver so all the tech doesn't really bother me for that use, and I love that old generation SL. You know I'm not somebody who prefers old cars either.
The new SL is just not a car I would ever buy, I would get an LC or a 911 or something.

I love having just the huge rear parcel right behind me. SL is a car that two people could pack TO DEATH for a trip, that's nice. Or just enjoy the space behind the seats. Everyone who gets in it (when the top is up especially) is surprised how big inside it is. It ain't no dinky thing which I massively like.

Best way to clean the wheels is to take them off car, hit them with a pressure washer, dry them, hit with iron out, rinse them again, foam them with a manual scrub after 5 min wait, repeat till clean, dry them off, then ceramic coat them.
After that all you will need to do is foam and rinse them off. Alternative is to use a wheel cleaner and a rim brush but that takes longer and costs more long term. Plus you will have to touch the rims

I'm very curious to know what, if any, convertibles will be seen as iconic from this time period. It's my favorite body style but it's definitely approaching a valley in terms of popularity these days.

The SL is selling at MASSIVE discounts which create very attractive lease terms. Believe it or not, an SL is cheaper to lease than an LC. Friend of mine traded his S580 lease in on an SL lease and his payment went down $700 a month despite the car being $30,000 more expensive

I'm well aware, I'm finally taking delivery of one in about a month. The discounts aren't uniform across the models (some of its conquest only, others are a glut of old 2022 production cars) but it's not hard to nab something attractive price wise. It's going to tide me over until discounts inevitably arrive on the Maserati Gran Turismo cab (also overpriced).

Like I said, you would. The overall market is clearly not as enthusiastic. I even look at the lack of LC presence in popular culture. The R107 and R129 SL's were everywhere. TV shows, music videos, you name it.

I don't care what the market is, the less enthusiastic it is the cheaper ours will be when that time comes. So for my own selfish reasons I hope they bottom out, bc one is next on the list.
That said, yearrrrrrs down the road people will be slobbering over them, count on it.
