Ah I thought she was on board as well. It's wild you can't find a Carnival at MSRP yet, but I guess if you don't want to go out of state that makes things more difficult. Any dealers on your way to family in WV that might want to deal? Nothing like an impromptu visit to see the relatives with a small stop along the way.
She's onboard, she just goes back and forth about the doors. I'm sure I could easily get a Carnival for MSRP or below I just don't even want to deal with dealers like that.
Found this in the Car and Driver archives. Fun to look back. Here is their review of the 4Runner from January 1996. Paging @LexsCTJill as I think you'll enjoy it.

Congratulations to your neighbor, but, how's that for timing LOL?....my own neighbor came home today with a brand-new black Tacoma.
My 2020 Tacoma, a double cab long bed TRD Off Road model in Cement color, was one of my most favorite vehicles that I've ever owned. I miss it all the time. I hope your neighbor enjoys it as much as I enjoyed mine.

As a side note, I really enjoyed 1990s Toyota interiors (nostalgia and all that). From the linked article:
Thanks for the Page, appreciate that. I never had one of these as I had more money at that time and bought a LX470. But, they are iconic. I agree with you on the interior, it’s great very functional. Too bad it’s a little bit slow. Something I never knew till I got my new 21 model. The previous gen models are all made in RHD Japan model Hilux Surf with small little diesels. . 5th Gen is not, it’s made just for the US.
Now THAT is a Lincoln. A proper Lincoln. A sedan too
+1.
And that is a pre-1997 Town Car...IMO much better looking than the post-1997 version, which incorporated too much Jaguar and Kia in the roofline and rear end.
Finally seeing LXs pop up around town and a few at the dealer, it’s about time.
I like it but it has been well surpassed by virtually everything in all but off road capabilities, including the Denali which is $30,000 cheaper.
The competition has just gotten so good, same thing why the LS is a mess. It wasn’t such a runaway in the past.
I was shocked to see two them during a recent trip to Minneapolis. From the rear they don't really have much presence. I really wish Lexus would've pushed themselves with the LX, especially given the splash they made with the GX550.
