Speaking of 98-00 LS400s:
People complain about the stock rims but I think they look great. One thing that is indisputably better about LS430s is the wood, there must be 2-3xs the amount that’s in the 400.
those rims are hideous.
and the world is slowly moving on from slaughtered trees and cows.

Your 430 looks identical to the one I had, except I had the polished 5 star wheels and yours look to be chrome. Same interior (no nav), everything. I'd still take the 400 over the 430. And that 98-00 400 you snapped a pic of is seemingly the most popular color for those model years. I see gold more than any other color - driving around and whenever I look at ones available for sale. It's my least favorite color, in fact it's the only color I'd never buy.

I’m not a gold fan myself but I think it looks great on that. The two tone paint has aged surprisingly well!
No, it is. There is a growing market that wants all sustainable materials in a car, that’s why you find more and more carmakers offering those options.

So oils and plastics are sustainable now? Ha! That's funny how people bought that nonsense

Synthetic leather and plastic are sustainable yes, they aren’t derived from living things they are made chemically and can be made over and over and recycled etc. People just don’t want to kill animals and trees, I get it. My wife would much rather have a car with no leather or wood, lots of people like her.

And when is the last time it was ever recycled? It just sits around forever in landfills plus recycling is a lie as well. Most stuff is not able to be recycled at all or it takes more to reuse it than just make new.

You can always grow more cows and trees
I don't think that "growing" more cows is really the issue. All that means is more suffering in the future....animals often (though not always) suffer when they are put to death. Killing them to eat is one thing (I eat poultry and seafood myself, though no beef or pork).....but IMO needless killing, just for the sake of planting one's butt on a vehicle-seat or carrying around a fancy piece of luggage, is quite another matter.

i think they look good but only when very pristine:
unfortunately almost every example is scuffed up and faded now :(

Oh, not here. Overwhelmingly they are mostly in good shape. I didn't eagle-eye it but that one looked great, it was just dirty.
I like the wood trim in the 400s but that strip below the vents looks pretty dumb and contrived, I've always thought so.
LS430 has so much wood it's like a fancy bordello. Reminds me of the Commodore's house in Boardwalk Empire. The more wood and leather you can throw at me the more I'll take.

Bolt gun, CO2 chamber, shock, there several painless ways to kill animals. It's not needless killing at all, they end up being a useful item to a human.
