Leather stays nice if you take care of it. It can also be easily repaired and re-dyed.

That’s the other good thing about synthetic leather though, much more durable.

I’ve only had used Luxury cars with leather so that’s probably why I have negative opinion of it. Hard, dry and cracked. Leather does feels nice when it’s brand new. And it’s better for family vehicles because it’s easier to clean and doesn’t stain.

Your old seats can be refinished by an upholsterer for not much money and they will be like brand new.

I may have that done. Sourcing cloth seat covers from a JDM 3GS seems quite impossible LOL!

Leather, leather, leather.... give me more. I'll take every speck of wood I can get, too.

I like leather and wood but they aren’t the only nice materials. For instance I have leather couches in one room, and fabric in the other room…leather is high maintenance in some ways, it’s just not the best material for every situation.

There isn’t any good thing that can’t be ruined by being overdone or overused.

I love the wood grain in my GS. It’s birds eye maple. And yes in my house I much prefer fabric couch’s and chairs over leather. More elegant and makes less noise sat upon.

Not very easily repaired if it's perforated or is semi-aniline (edit: or nappa or whatever uncorrected leather with a thin top clear coat is called by whichever manufacturer in whichever region at the time).

Carbon-fiber can also be a very nice interior trim if done well...I've always liked it. My Encore GX has what looks like a light-grey / grainy-pattern carbon-fiber trim strip on the upper-dashboard that runs through the air vents. Classy.

I think carbon fiber looks silly and a bit of a fallacy when used as a decoration In heavy luxury vehicles. I prefer wood or brushed aluminum.

All automotive leather has a urethane top coat, except for very few exceptions (king ranch F150s used to have uncoated leather). Napa and semi-aniline leathers and perforated leathers can all be easily repaired and re dyed.

Yeah it can be nice.

All you have to do is look up information about leather production.

Carbon fiber isn't for me, but aluminum is great.

But I'm a sucker for all kinds of wood and leather. LS430 they went to high end hotels as a part of the R&D when designing/engineering the interior. For the seats they looked at all kinds of first class seats, and modeled after British Airways First Class.

That definitely explains the seat design. I vastly preferred the LS460 seats from an aesthetic standpoint.

Interesting. LS460 seats seemed pretty basic to me. Still nice though.
