They seem very soft, the Audi has adjustable wings but it's the least padded. If I relax/slouch I do contact the headrests but I'm normally off them so I can look behind them easily.
I just never really checked them much, I rarely use them even on 12-16 hour drives.
My 430 was a UL, it was just leather, it wasn’t the same ultra soft squishy leather the 400s had.
Unfortunately I never really ever got to check out a 400 thoroughly. I sat in a 98-00 one once and was blown away but how rock solid everything was. Like, shocked. How when the wheel retracts back in it feels like you'd need a crane to move it again, for example.

A good friend of mine drove his LS400 over 400k miles and loved that car.
He finally traded for a Cadillac Escalade and has over 250k miles on it since he drives a lot for work and he says it has been a very dependable vehicle.
Evidently the Escalades will go some distance too.

Yeah, my GMT800 Yukon won’t die. To say it’s neglected is putting it unbelievably mildly.
I love having the headrests close enough so I can rest my head back on them on a long trip. Best in that regard was my GS350 because it had BMW style articulating backrests. S Class works pretty well because the headrests slide forward and back in addition to up and down
That Luxury GS350 we had... many good things to remember. The seat, leather and drive do bring back memory. I kind of like the new Sensafin they have. Not bad. Not sure if it's shortage thing, but now BMW only offers Sensafin for X5 and Merino for X7. No longer see Vernasca on their site.

So I saw a G90 for the first time. I saw the thread on the new one but barely remember how it looked. So when I saw it from the behind, I thought it was the new one. I was like what? Looks like an old Infinti. Just checked and noticed it's not the new one. Lol. Yet, only a year old. This is what they call flagship sedan? No wonder why it took this long for me to see one.
The all new G90 I like a lot. That one above is not the new one, thats the refresh prior gen.
Got the S Class back with $2,150 worth of brakes. Merry Christmas lol. They feel great...they ought to. Hopefully the ceramic pads will be much better with dust.
Had an Avalon rental with 8k miles, not a bad car. Rides nice, smooth powertrain, reasonably quiet (63 dB on the highway). Strange material choices inside though, some really nice padded stitched sections next to absolutely terrible hard plastic. I do miss a regular shifter:
