General Car Conversation
Stopped by and looked at a couple new Range Rovers this afternoon, they had two in the showroom, a LWB and a SWB. Locked, customers cars so I couldnt even see inside them (why you put customers cars nobody can sit in in the showroom is beyond me). They are really good looking though...I'm about 1-1.5 years out, and I figure if I decide I want one of these I would have to order it with a year's notice.
Its funny, this Land Rover dealer in Bethesda has the crappiest service of any dealer I have ever visited. The only time somebody refused to let me test drive a car was there, and just the way they were today about the concept that I would want to even look inside one of those Range Rovers was ridiculous. They never greet you, never look at you, you have to track somebody down to ask for help with something, then they yell around to try and get somebody who can be bothered to talk to you. Salespeople just standing around in a circle gabbing, no goodbye when you go to leave. Never been treated like that in any car dealership anywhere but that dealership, mainstream or luxury. The only other LR dealers are in VA, or out in like Annapolis, so that does give me pause about buying one since I would have to go to VA to find a decent dealer to service it. Dealer in Tysons is fabulous.
Plain and simple.
Just curious, have you checked out their Yelp reviews to see what others have to say about their experience with them?
I just looked up the Yelp reviews, and they are hit or miss. I thought the body of this one review was interesting though:
Its very strange. The salespeople all just kind of stand in a circle on the showroom floor and just ignore all the customers...never seen anything like it in any other dealer I have ever visited, and I've been in a lot.
LOL, this was funny. Read her review and then read the dealer's response. Glad they are paying such close attention lol

And yes I also am not sure if they’ll take it but it was more of a move to get them thinking “ok this should be easy, guy wants to just charge it on an Amex.” Like I said I don’t want him to know how just how much I want this car but I do want him to know I’m fully ready to buy it in cash for asking if it checks out.
Almost have garage all cleaned out ready for the SL. It’s a small garage, notice how tight the LS fits in there.
Sorry about the LR dealers. Maybe they don’t work on commission?? That’s inappropriate at a Chevy dealer let alone friggin Land Rover. I’ve never heard anything good nor bad about our LR dealer.

Oh they do for sure. I don't know if they just do a lot of order business and they don't normally spend time trying to close customers, its really weird. I appreciate some level of space, like when I walk in say hi and let me know if I need anything to let them know, but that specific dealer is the only one I have ever been in where you are just flat out ignored. The salespeople don't even glance your way. And I look like a target Range Rover customer too...really weird. Its not Land Rover either, because the dealer in Tysons is not that way at all. Hell, the GM of the dealer in Tysons invited me and guests to the J/LR VIP Event at the car show a couple years ago.
Service like that is typical of low end dealerships near the inner city....totally unacceptable IMO

Steve I think my garage is "standard" as you say but I can't find any measurements. The problem is the HVAC and water heater are right there which eats into precious space. If I had a tankless WH up against the wall, both LX and LS would fit.
Make sure it includes at least 2 keys before committing to price.
That always seems to be a "gotcha" and the car dealers get killer deals with locks smiths that us guys don't get so it will be much easier and cheaper for him to sweeten the deal if he needs to add a key than you going to MB.
If it already comes with 2 keys, great!
I backed into a gas station pole (not near a gas pump) at my boat dock.
