Yeah that's neat about the rear brakes, also that would help make the braking feel more subtle.
All due respect to your mechanic I doubt what he says applies after 10 years and 250k miles versus an LS. But for your use an 95% of the rest, perfect.
Remember that an LS460 is not an LS430 lol. He said that compared to the LS460. Way more to go wrong in a 460 than a 430, you have the brake actuators, the valley plate leak, the control arms, etc.

I like the dealer experience, I like having my fanny padded, I like the loaners and all, but when it comes to building a relationship with people long term, people just dont stay at dealers for a long time anymore, you don't have access to the techs that do the work to get to know them, and the cost is really high. This shop is walking distance to an Enterprise so I will just rent a car.

Right good point, also the LS500 has really bad reliability ratings.
I've seen high mileage LS460s but no where near LS400/430 miles.
On vacation in the mountains, just drove my BIL's Lincoln Nautilus (sp?). I haven't been in a brand new car in forever let alone driven an expensive one with 5,000 miles on it.
I liked it, rather a lot. The digital gauges looked great and all of the screens and graphics did too. Switches were high quality, not quite Lexus but not far off. It would take me forever to get used to shifter buttons on the console. It wasn't as comfortable as I thought it would be. On the flip side it has a 2.0t that had plenty of pickup and I could barely catch any turbo lag, that was a nice surprise. Carmakers have engineered the vibrations of 4 bangers out but they'll never be able to do anything about the awful sounds. Loaded down I think it would lose some of its zip quickly but it's perfectly enough for average Joe Consumer. There's a 2.7 V6 Ecoboost you can get which I'm sure is a monster in any case. We all know I'm a V8 freak but V8s don't really go in crossovers unless they're special performance versions.
My BIL hates the start stop and says he wouldn't have bought it bc it's such a PITA and he hates turning it off each time. The funny thing is, I couldn't get it to engage (and it was definitely ON)!!! I had it for at least 30 minutes and it wouldn't do it.
Really nice crossover, though. Loved all the new tech. But that engine.....ehhhh. His mpg average was 18 something, that's really nothing to write home about. This is a crappy car to car comparison but the Enclave V6 in my family is buttery, way better, and only gets about 1mpg less.

LOL. He's not the only MM that likes Lincolns. I'm a fan of the newer ones myself...they are probably my second-favorite vehicle-brand (tied with GMC) behind Buick. I'm not sure I'd purchase or lease a GMC or Lincoln, though, because they have not shown the reliability that Buicks have....and neither one makes a vehicle the size of the Encore GX, which is the perfect size for me.
Took this this morning as we were leaving our cabin. It was about 19 degrees, this car has not been started in this cold (plus it sat for 3 days) in more years than I can think of. Fired right up and was warm inside when we left. Without question I would take this car across country over the LX. Such a great interstate cruiser.
How is everyone's experience? I used it over the weekend twice and doubled the disappointment.
Exp 1: It asked me to take this freeway A to switch to B. Knowing the area, I decided to use the service road to get coffee and get to B from there. After coffee, somehow it recalculated and kept asking me to U turn to get back on A. I ignored and got on the B from the coffee stop. Once on, it kept asking me to exit to make U turn. After about 10 miles or so, I got to another freeway, it still asked me to exit to make U turn. After about 30 miles it gave up. Seemed like it wanted me to get back on A.
Exp 2: On the way home, it asked me to take a different freeway to get on the big main freeway home. It was a different freeway that it took me last few times. It turned out it routed me to two one up one down winding freeways before getting to the big freeway. It was dark and rainy. It wasn't to bad for me but my wife, while being quiet, I knew she was on edge for a good 20 minutes or so. Should have gone with Google Map but it wouldn't feed to HUD.
I use CarPlay in my truck, and I use it in rental cars (when available).
In CarPlay, I use Google Maps. I used to have many issues with it but lately it has performed well for me with directions. I do enjoy the nice view on Google Maps. I find messaging and music (Pandora) to be easy to use via CarPlay.
In the GS, I just use the native navigation system and it works fine for me. It's largely the same as what's in the Tundra and the Highlander, but the larger screen in the GS makes it a lot easier to use and it doesn't bother me.
I have no issues anything like you described when using Waze via Android Auto.
My bad. I made an assumption CarPlay aka iMap. I did try Waze before but it seemed to be stuck at previous destination last few times I used it. If started while driving, it's stuck at last stop I had to kill it and re-started. So I lost interest in it but I know many like it.

Are you using Apple Maps? I typically use Waze or Google Maps.
