Considering the dude has worked as a designer for Ford and Volvo and was shortlisted by Pininfarina, I'd say he's more of a "author" than any of us lol.

I quite enjoyed watching that critique video of the EQS even if I dont completely agree with what he is saying. Why would Mercedes go back to their heritage of the "blocky" designs of the W140 etc etc like he wants, when an EV needs to be aerodynamic? Also he spends way too much time critiquing the actual video and the marketing speech than the design of the car.

You don't have to go back to the heritage of blocky designs to not make a car look like a jellybean. The W222 and W223 have very low cD ratings for example

Its a ugly, goofy looking car, it does not even look upscale/luxurious, looks like a big chunky fwd econo car/Ford focus. It is hard to screw up the design/looks of a RWD sedan but they managed to do it. I doubt anyone would care if they gave it a more traditional sedan design that did not get as good of range at this price range.

His main message was that the car looks like a FWD econobox and its looks can't be excused with any kind of heritage (like what some people defending BMW's beaver teeth claim).

I personally think it looks nice. Not sure if it will look as good in person but this pic is great.

lol, I thought the exact same thing after seeing this picture and before reading your comment. It's getting uglier with every picture. Absolutely unreal.

I'm still looking forward to the battery tech to see where this ultimately lands (not expecting to be wowed at all), but everything else can go right in the trash for me.

This is the impression I get trying to look out those windows......................

Whatever happened to the days whens sedans were sedans, instead of 4-door coupes with Humpback-rooflines that look like they went halfway through a crusher? Actually, it was Mercedes itself, with the CLS, that started that nonsense.

Just curious, can you name a new, currently selling, car or two that you think is great looking? Kthx.

I doubt anyone would care if they gave it a more traditional sedan design that did not get as good of range at this price range.
So you're saying even though you think it's hideous, if the range is good it won't matter?

Because it's easy to say everything was better in the past.

methinks he doth protest (way) too much.

And yet, the mb CLS and CLA are jellybeans.

and the current S - great car but because it needs a huge front end, it becomes hugely long.

While the EQS is hugely more efficient, with massive rear leg room and giant wheelbase made usable with the optional 10 degree 4ws.

i just love this color and wheel combo.

I know the question is rhetorical, but major additional factors are managing road noise and of course fuel/range efficiency. This eqs is apparently the most aerodynamic vehicle on earth.

Funny thing about that; the 1980s W124 E-Class had a drag coefficient of 0.28. The current swoopy CLS? 0.27.

That's why I don't buy the drag coefficient excuse for the EQS looking like a jellybean.
