not sure your point, the EQS is SHORTER but has MORE room inside, because an EV allows it to have a shorter hood.
I think his point is that the article seems to praise the EQS for having a more room than S class but in a smaller footprint, but in reality, its only a 1 inch difference in footprint so its not really a point that should be mentioned,

Yup.
More to the point, I've literally never seen a single reviewer complain about the new S-Class not having enough passenger room. All the EQS is doing by making the cabin slightly larger than an S-Class is addressing an issue that was never an issue to begin with.

then you're missing the point entirely in several ways. mb only sells the long wheelbase s-class in north america because yes, people buying an s-class want space, the more the better. just because reviewers haven't 'complained' about space doesn't mean consumers won't appreciate more. it's a big reason why suv's now rule the market.
more importantly, while being only an inch shorter, the eqs not only brings more cabin room but it looks like TONS more cargo room not only because of the short hood (and thus enlarged back) but it's also an awesome hatchback. again, there's a reason so many of bmw/mb/audi's "sedan-suv-coupe thingies" sell. the eqs is simply bring the best of all of this still in a sedan height form, but it's actually closer to a cuv in many ways.
and if anyone bothers to watch the video GS69 posted, it's obvious why comparing the eqs to the tesla s-class (because comparing everything to a tesla is the sheep move) is absurd. no doubt tesla is happy with the comparisons and likely named it the "s" to bring the comparisons. the interior of a tesla s is at best a 'premium' thing, not a luxury car. the tesla s is a great car though!
Its just not a segment where you will find buyers value space over style, they want both.
well we both know the LS500 has style but not enough space. you may find the exterior of the new EQS devoid of style (i don't, i consider it futuristic and functional), but no one can deny the interior is stylish (even if they don't like it).

What specifically do you feel is futuristic about the exterior design?

!
Short wheel base was available in Canada. For some reason it was excluded in the US.

even though its proportions look 'off' compared to 'traditional' (ICE) sedans, i believe its proportions (very short front, very large cabin space, large fastback/hatchback back) are futuristic (a sign of more to come). it has very exotic headlights. the large grill design with tiny mb star logos all over it is a very sharp detail (compared to tesla's typical plain fronts in particuar).

The rear 3/4 and back of the LS500 is not stylish at all. The taillights look like halogen even though they are LED. I don't know why Lexus designers are so stupid...they are always being conservative. They should have just made the LS500 look like a supersized ES.

LS500 is good looking car IMO. Took me a while to warm up to the style….but it is beautiful. I also love the direction Lexus went with it….they went their own distinct path and it no longer looks boring and bulky like the LS460 was before it. Hopefully they get a V8 option one day….but the V6tt is a superb motor. Remote touch pad was bad idea….at least they added a new touchscreen
