Tesla does not disclose FSD revenue, up front purchase is rolled into vehicle sales revenue. Recurring revenue is deferred which makes it difficult to tease out an exact number especially since subscription revenue is reported as "Services and other revenue" which has charging lumped in. Services and other is about $15 billon/year if I'm not mistaken. My best guess is Tesla is grossing $1 billion/year from FSD so less than 1-2% of total revenue.
That's a big chunk of money $$$.
Way more than I expected, nice.

It's better than nothing but still peanuts. If Tesla for some reason fails to roll out Cybercab and the Robotaxi network at scale then they've wasted a whole pile of cash. I'm confident Tesla will succeed but it's not a sure thing what they are attempting is insanely difficult. It's easier to make reusable rockets and put in orbit 10,000 satellites.
so i was helping a friend with a '23 model s setup fsd. it's hw3 plus the 2 screen interior made it a bit unfamiliar.
after going to controls, autopilot and agreeing to 'full self driving' being the default, i did what i usually do on my Y and that's voice command, "navigate to [place]" and then on my Y a blue fsd button appears on the screen which i touch and off the car goes.
no button appears on the model S hw3 and brake hold is on the screen after tapping the brake and even then engaging fsd by pressing right scroll wheel the car doesn't move. it does the double beep to indicate it's engaged though. if i or my friend presses the gas to get the car to move, it DOES THEN take over driving.
really weird.
maybe it's software - it's on 12.6.4 fsd but apparently tesla is slowly rolling out v13 and v14 to hw3 cars, but i've no idea how to make that happen other than wait.
about the 'brake hold' feature, i could find no way to turn that off.
It will still run fine, but you need to update it to the latest version. It uses software emulation so it won't be as good as HW4. Not sure if it uses the neural network with the older hw...maybe I'll consult Grok
I don't recommend FSD on HW3 vehicles. V14 is not on HW3 yet and maybe never.
well that's what he has and can't be changed and he's old and would value fsd greatly. anyway, it's a sub so he can cancel if he doesn't like.

Yes, the interface is different. You don't get the Start Self driving blue button. I believe you have to activate it using the stalk. Double tap or single tap depending on what you have your setting on. Also, you lose the driving profiles like Hurry/Mad Max etc and you lose the parking functions at destination.
On the highway in right lane when passing an on ramp lane when the Tesla drifts to the right where the on ramp lane merges on the highway, is that car running FSD or auto pilot? Witnessed this a few days ago.

I have video of it I believe.
It "drifts" to that lane, or does it signal first? If it actually just drifted, I would suspect no FSD.
On v13 I had a couple issues where it would merge, with a signal, to a lane that was ending soon. I never noticed that with v14.
