Tesla Full Self Driving Thread
that’s what every car maker wishes it had, $100 subscriptions! lol
i’ve realized the majority of the car business is very broken because most car makers make money on the car sale, but after that, only money on parts. and tesla’s warranty costs have got to be very low.
bmw making heated seats or apple carplay a subscription was stupid. tesla making fsd a subscription was a game changer. i would never have had it with the $8k price tag. i’ve seen arguments both ways on whether the monthly cost will go up or down (musk has said it will go higher with full autonomy) but they’ve set a precedent for a larger subscription. i think i read 10% of teslas have fsd? if they’ve sold maybe 5M cars, that’s 500,000 with fsd, and at 100 a month, that’s $50M a month - not chump change. what subscriptions also allow is for the price of the car to be lowered. like razors and razor blades or inkjet printers and cartridges. if this plays out you could see very inexpensive ev’s at some point. meanwhile ice/hybrid cars just seem to get more expensive.

Yep very smart, and it comes with having something worth paying for. FSD is worth the cost, heated seats are a basic thing everybody should have.

Everybody who has a new Tesla has $100 in their budget. Thats not even a dinner out for 2 people anymore.
And specifically AMIRIZA does. He clearly wants FSD, I see no point in denying himself the feature he wants when he can pay for it comfortably.

i think that's profoundly insensitive.
teslas cost what a camry costs. some people budget down to the dollar... child care, health care, student loans, kids, car payments, rent/mortgage, saving, on and on. not everyone has $100 to spend on something very optional.

LOL, come on. If you're buying a new $50,000 car you have $100 a month. If you dont you shouldn't be buying a new $50k car.
If you don't want it then don't buy it, I'm just saying denying yourself something you want for $100 a month is silly if spending that wouldn't hurt you financially. He clearly wants it, and I am pretty confident he can afford it...he should just get it. Personally I wouldn't get it because I wouldn't use it. But...he would use it every trip like you do.

Lately every week I’ve been thinking about a Tesla and it’s FSD for when I’m driving and feeling little tired. Doesn’t have to be a Tesla but FSD or the like would be nice.
Take a nap 😴 while charging
Plus I still have my Lvl 2 charger.
Edit:
Welp this is what changes my mind.

My FSD subscription ended almost a month back, so last night on a longer drive I used Autopilot with steering enabled. And now I miss FSD. A couple of reasons... when I hit a construction zone on the freeway, it panicked when there was a barrier wall to the right, started screaming for me to take over and nearly drifted into it. Also where I live in the Bay area, people have no idea how to drive, so you hit pockets of slow drivers who have no idea the left lane is for faster driving/passing, so I have to keep disengaging to go around them. It's basically good for a long stretch where you can maintain a consistent speed, no construction zones, and perfect painted lines on the road. It doesn't even come close to FSD
And he and/or most (aka you are not included, lol) the ones that do... are unlikely going to buy an MY or M3.

+1. Very cool and all but I have learned it's not for me. I remember I was always in "ready" mode just in case. Lol.
