Tesla Full Self Driving Thread
This is how many gallons of gasoline I didn't burn:
Not sure how many of those gallons FSD saved me 🤣

🥴🫣 oops
Last weekend a friend of mine got into a bad car accident after we left our kids hockey game and he got T-bone and flipped the car twice. Luckily no injuries but I was thinking had he had FSD I bet he wouldn’t have gotten in the accident.

As I mentioned in my Model 3 thread, there was a 3 or 4 car pile up on my way home from Southern Cal, the chain reaction was at least 15 or 20 cars ahead, FSD spotted it in real time and took action, even avoiding the people behind me who were driving much to fast. I was busy at the time listening to a podcast not even really paying attention and didn't realize what was going on until it all happened. Not only was the accident proactively avoided, but we were able to get around before the highway came to a complete stop (it was a two lane highway).
Now the question I have is, what if FSD avoids a really bad accident and keeps going when maybe a person driving would pull over and assist in a bad situation possibly saving lives. Maybe if the accident was bad enough, FSD would pull over. This was just fender bender type accident
I did have another glitch with it taking a wrong turn and costing me a 10 minute U-turn. It showed me needing to take the left fork to head North, but waited too long and when it put on the signal, we were already at the solid white line. I'm guessing that's why it suddenly changed from signaling left, to signaling right and heading South for 5 miles until there was an exit where it could turn around. I guess I'm a bad "supervisor", as I just sat there and watched it unfold.
One of my main reasons for trying the car was to test Full Self-Driving, and this vehicle was running FSD version 14.2.2.2 on Hardware 4 ofcourse.
I’m assuming this is a software bug, and from what I’ve seen, others have noticed it too. Another observation came while using FSD on side streets during snowfall. I initially had the system set to Hurry mode, and there were moments—especially on curves or tighter roads—where the speed felt a bit uncomfortable for the conditions. To be clear, that doesn’t necessarily mean the car couldn’t handle it, but it was faster than I would have driven in those conditions. I ended up adjusting the driver speed profile up/down when needed, which worked well. Once I got used to managing that, the experience improved significantly. It’s also worth noting the car was not on winter tires, which definitely factored into my caution.
Overall, though, FSD performed impressively. The software has come a long way—even compared to just a couple of months ago when I tested it on another Tesla. Despite the highway navigation issue, I was genuinely impressed with how capable and confident the system felt.
