I honestly don’t care what it would cost to charge on a trip, it would never equal the savings of not having to buy gas day to day.
My issue is having there be plenty of chargers with plenty of availability
Same here. Even if I had to pay .59 cents per kWh, I would still take my EV over my gas car. Availability of charging is also my top priority over price
Testing Our Lucid Air Resulted in a Loud Bang, Loss of Power, and Two Tow Trucks
a.k.a. the magic smoke escaped, probably out of an IGBT somewhere. Motor inverter, buck-boost, pick your poison.
Mandatory "how do these things still happen" question. Same with the ioniq 5's (hopefully only the 5, not the 6 or the genesis models) onboard charger... cracking the alu casing somehow reportedly?!?!??!?!?!??!!
Anyways.
Re: looks - Teslas look just fine on the outside, except for the cybertruck (not sure where they got that memo about cyberpunk designs, given that everything in cp2077/blade runner/2049 is gorgeous). The OG Model S especially- it's the biggest and most important middle finger to "EVs have to look dorky in some fashion" - like, no, give me a decent looking car...
Just for grins I just plugged my trip to WV into ABRP using the i7 60 and it tells me I have to stop in Staunton and charge for 42 minutes to get there with 10% SoC, yeah not relaxing yet lol. I could get there in 2/3rds of a tank in the S560.
Speaking of Lucid how is this company still in business? Their sales are actually going down, they had to cut production 50% on reduced demand. They have over 200 days of inventory. Go to page 12, they are losing money hand over fist https://ir.lucidmotors.com/static-fi...5-88429cb45555
Going back about 3 years they guided for 60,000 cars in 2023 they sold 10% of that. Scary thing is Lucid spends millions on advertising is it helping?

I do want to drive the 750ie PHEV
Curious, do those planners take into account the temperature and impact on both charging time and range?

I'm actually seeing lots of them... well 3 or 4 a week, which is lots compared to last year.
To answer your other question.... Saudi money. Until it dries up, Lucid will continue on

The ones built into the vehicles do. Both my Tesla and Polestar are spot on, maybe + or minus 1 or 2 percent. Haven't taken our Ioniq 5 on a trip, so don't know how accurate that trip planner is

The ones built into cars do and A Better Route Planner does too. That’s about 10 minutes longer charging than it was saying for the same trip in the summer, needs to charge to 88% vs like 75%
This guy is an extreme case and probably lives in an area where there is no competition. On average, I pay 0.33 cents per kWh on trips, and because of the excellent mileage I get, I pay less than half of what I would if I took my gas car.
That being said, if you don't have the ability to charge at home, it's probably better to get a hybrid if fuel costs are your biggest concern
Your gas car isn’t the most efficient. Also gas is super expensive in California from my understanding.

What has the higher availability in your area, chargers or gas stations?
Would you pay more to charge than you would pay in gas even if you had a more efficient gas car?
Is supercharging cheaper than gas on the trips you take? Last time I pumped gas it was $2.47 for 87.
Crap, that's cheap 😕. In California, gas is pretty expensive, especially on travel routes where it reaches almost $6 a gallon. Factor in most EV'S getting anywhere from 90 MPGe to over a 100 MPGe, and you spend about 50 percent less charging. When you charge at home, it's like 3 X less

I would pay more to charge an EV than it cost to fuel a car on the same trip. I would save $350 a month of so on gas day to day. No way the 2-3 trips I take in it a year would cost $4,000 to charge.
The EV gives a great driving experience too which is worth something.

If I lived in California I would at least have a hybrid or EV. I couldn’t imagine paying $6/gallon.

That’s discouraging. Then once you arrive you have to charge for however long if you want to do a little driving around.
