2.9 sec 0-60 for the base c8. It would smoke you well before 80 if someone was serious about racing you. After that, it wouldn't even be close. And the Polestar Performance starts at $63k. Not that much cheaper. More functional, but significantly slower. But yes, it's fast for a grocery getter, just like most EVs.

 

Aren't you in the South Bay? Im seeing as low as 4.99 for Chevron premium is some places around the peninsula but expensive places around $5.29. I think this is a "reasonable" cost of gas. Anything over 6, or last year when it was close to 7 was painful.

 

Gas prices can suck my bleep I don't care. Most of our transport is on the Tesla now.

I don't need to, day to day an EV would be great. I never drive more than 200 miles in a day, and I have a nice garage where the car will sit and I will wake up to 280 miles of range every morning. The only concern for me is travel. For instance tomorrow one of my agents and I are going to Ocean City to look at a condo that one of his clients may want to sell, its about 150 miles each way. In an EV, that would be a challenge, there really isn't anywhere great to charge on the eastern shore or in OC, there are level 2 chargers but thats not going to help me as the car would need to sit there for hours and hours.

That is a rare occurrence though and I could take the Pacifica, I just don't want to. Going to meet a customer who has an expensive property he may want us to help him with I want to take my business car. Another example, buddy of mine has invited me to his cabin in PA to go skiing, its about 220 miles. I could get there probably in one charge but how do I charge it when I'm there? Again, could take the Pacifica but I want the AWD for potential weather and its a hardship for my wife not to have the van with the kids and the dog. I've got to try and plug in to his dryer outlet or something which is just annoying...

 

For the record, i said there are no stats that we know of for comparison between the two vehicle types - it doesn’t mean there are no stats for EV fires in enclosed spaces. There is. It is rare which I am not disputing on. ‘making things up’ is factually incorrect.

Secondly, in no way did I make such comparison. I said risk is a function of amount of stored energy in the household when all else is equal.

3P I couldn't take with these tires. AT tires drop 0-60 from 3.1 to 3.4 seconds. Could beat it up a snowy hill though

 

Charging in the NE really is bad. I was going take the Rivian off-roading in PA, but the place I found has no fast charging within 30 minutes of it. Best case scenario was to find a hotel to charge overnight and hope I got there before the spots were taken

That's with a perfect launch on a prepped surface lol. I don't need a perfect launch nor a prepped surface. Do you actually think someone who owns a C8 and saw someone in a grocery getter as you stated wouldn't want to teach me a lesson? Well yes, they can beat me... eventually 😅. Imagine a guy next to you in Civic, Camry or Corolla trying to match you in your sports car...I think most people would want to teach them a lesson, although it may be a small one.

I paid under $50k for my 2022 base, dual motor and added a $1200 performance upgrade, which was purely software. The fact that people have to compare high end sports cars as comparisons is pretty telling to me. What about a Model 3 performance, which is under $70k? Or an Ioniq 5 N? How would those compare?

I have a ton of respect for cars like the C8, so don't think I'm putting them down. My point is, cheaper EV'S meet or exceed performance expectations. Their biggest weakness is range, and if they are not Tesla's, then charging infrastructure as well

 

I look at Costco prices. Yeah, I'm cheap 😂

 

Sorry. I thought you were trying to expand and say there was nothing that would beat it for that price, not just family cars.

 

I don't that car is a death machine on wheels it consistently has some of the highest if not the highest death rates of any vehicle. If you can't make a car fast and at least reasonably safe you're engineering is a total failure.
