What do you think about the Ioniq?

They look pretty good.

I wouldn't buy another Hyundai ICE but their EV's look pretty good.

Of course if I had BIG money and just do a lease I'd go for the Mercedes EQS tho. Lol

I don't care for the styling of any of the Ioniq models. I think the 6 looks better in person than in pics, but I still don't care for it. The 5 does nothing for me. If they start making their EV's to look more similar to their ICE models I would be interested. I think the G80, G90, GV80, Kia Stinger, and Hyundai Palisade are all striking vehicles. I'm a fan of the brand overall, just not the EV's at the moment.

I feel the same way about an EV SUV. Originally the R1S was the only one I would buy but a friend of mine just got a white EQS for his wife and I saw it the other day and it looked great so I would consider one of those as well.

How about a GV70 EV or G80 EV?

Good point, forgot about those being EV now (I think only the GV70 is officially out though??). Both beautiful. I think the GV70 would be too small for my needs, not necessarily seating but rear storage. GV80 would likely work and is probably eerily similar in size and cargo volume as my Model Y.

So yes, if the GV80 size is what I think it would be (based on memory of driving the ICE version 2 years ago), I'd absolutely consider it.

No both the GV70 EV and the G80 EV are both out and have been for a while, I've driven both, they're great. No GV80 EV yet

EV9 is pretty frugal, i think it can do like 260-270 miles from 100 kwh battery, which is pretty good for a big vehicle. Together with access to SC network from next year, might be very reasonable package for people who need a big 3 row EV.

^ yeah it's not fast, but it'll get out of its own way. Makes sense as the average buyer would probably trade range for speed.

I'm definitely interested in looking at the EV9, I might look at it when our Ioniq 5 lease is up in next year

My favorite part was the leg rests in the second row captain's chairs and the front passenger seat. It would be a great road trip car. 3rd row is surprisingly decent if the 2nd row is at least in the middle of the track. Not super comfortable for a full sized adult, but sittable for a few hours. Getting into the 3rd row is a cinch with the captain's chairs.

Theres a thread about this. Doesn’t surprise me, why would you want to rent an EV when you can’t easily charge it overnight?

Just stumbled across this in my news feed. No idea how legit it is.

EU investigators to inspect China's BYD, Geely and SAIC in EV probe
https://www.reuters.com/business/aut...ce-2024-01-12/

The part that caught my attention however was this
China is estimated to have overtaken Japan as the world's largest auto exporter last year, shipping 5.26 million vehicles valued at about $102 billion, a Chinese auto association said this week.
Is this fact?
