Seeing we have completely abandoned the thread subject, I'll weigh in. Don't know the failure rate of MacBook but they are extremely difficult to repair. I was able to repair one but it died again probably another SMD capacitor blew up. Apple likes to silkscreen the board black and use dark coloured components because F you.

That's how they roll, making them unrepairable for most average people. But as an Apple investor, the more people who jump into their "ecosystem", the happier I get. I own a good chunk of shares, most were bought around the $90 level...so the more people who end up in their ecosystem, the thicker that part of my portfolio gets

Here's my Apple story. I went with a friend to the Apple store in Palo Alto, he wanted to buy a Mac. My friend asked the Apple employee if he also needs to buy antivirus software, and the employee told him that Macs don't get viruses, so he doesn't need to buy any. He went on to say they never crash, and some other stuff that got my blood boiling, as I've been in IT more than 30 years, and there is no software that exists that doesn't have vulnerabilities. I then interjected and asked him "Does the BS you just said come with it, or is that extra?" My friend began to laugh, and the Apple employee just looked at me with deer in the headlights look as what I said just sailed over his head...
I've yet to personally meet a Tesla owner who thinks their car is perfect. We are actually very critical of our cars, when they have flaws, we are not afraid to disclose them and be critical when criticism is warranted

I’ve been using iPad and MacBook for so long I sometimes forget how to do simple things on windows. I believe last windows I was familiar with was windows XP or whatever came after that I think windows 7. I do keep a windows around for tuning my car.

AAPL is a good stock, stable and keeps slowly going up. Someone please go back in time kick me in the crotch and scream buy Apple stock.
So here's the difference between Apple and Tesla. Apple slows down your device the longer you own it, Tesla constantly makes software improvements even for the oldest cars on the road. If you try and use any Apple phone from 10 years ago it's a brick, no updates and most apps don't work. Model S infotainment still works fine and gets updates.

actually, older infotainment is not getting all the new features, just like with apple. As to bricks, again most of old infotaiment units in Model S are bricks that people now have to repair, unless they have been lucky and it was under warranty.
Well I'm at the Tesla service center once again for two new issues. One is that I have an error message that popped up stating "front passenger safety restraint system fault" a couple weeks ago and then over the weekend the door handle was stuck, wouldn't open the door and made this horrible screeching sound when I drove like I was receiving a fax through my door. This car is the most problematic and frustrating car I have ever owned even though I love driving it.
So I get to the service center for my appointment this morning and I am told it may be 4-5 hours and whether I can drop off the car. WTF, I tell them I can't because no one told me that I needed to drop the car off and of course when I asked about a loaner, they told me they didn't have one but hopefully they will be able to get me out sooner. Why the heck didn't they tell me through the stupid app how long it would be or that I needed to drop my car off, or better yet, provide me with a loaner! I have never dealt with such an incompetent car company in all my years of car ownership. They did tell me they are going to have to take the door panel off again and I bet they are going to break it and I will need a third new door panel after this mess.
I only have 10,000 miles left on my warranty and I can't imagine how much this car is going to cost me in repairs after the warranty is up. Defnitely need to buy an extended warranty if they offer one.
All in all, I have spent far more time at the service center with each time being 4-5 hours than any other car. It's great that there is little to no maintenance but at least I only had to go to the dealer for my other cars once a year for an oil change. This is ridiculous.

Man, you are way more patient than me. Definitely incompetence. And no way I would keep that car once the warranty is done, although you can extend the warranty, may be worth paying for that.
The service centers are a lot better out here, I have three to choose from. And they get you in quick, get you a loaner and your out

That sucks. I'd definitely get rid of it within 10,000 miles. All of that is pretty ridiculous, sorry to hear.

Are these issues you're having common on the S, or are they maybe related to your accident?

I'll let Pat answer, but I think he has been having some issues with panels and trim since he got the car, accident seems to have brought out some other issues that were hidden. Personally, I would have went after Tesla and forced them to buy it back. When my Polestar had the BDU failure last Sept, I basically gave them one chance, any other failures and I would have forced them to buy it back. Thankfully it's been solid ever since. Same with my Y, I'm 8 months and almost 10k miles in, and no issues whatsoever, knock on wood

Both of these new issues are common problems when I looked it up on the forums, had nothing to do with my accident. While the accident was pricey, the only body work done was the lower part of the quarter panel by the door and the lower part of the rear passenger door. The non-body work was the rear suspension which was expensive. The only thing that popped up from the accident was a random brace that was left in the front bumper when manufactured that got lodged up in the lower part of the front bumper causing it to warp but it should never have been there in the first place and the body shop removed it.
I have had several problems since I bought the car and several were fixed before the accident. Driver's side door panel, a/c super manifold and compressor, seat memory not working and the rear hinge was broken (but I got that fixed by Tesla after the accident because I was too lazy to bring it in and finally did when the rear trunk latch was replaced which is also a common problem).
