I don't believe in sparing your good car the miles. I would drive your X7 for every one of those miles.
I never understood this either. I know many that owns a beater and a nice car for the weekends / going out. I can't drive a beater when I have a nice car parked next to it.
The only time I enjoy driving the beater is when I go to park and I don't have to care about it getting dinged. Or if I see someone purposely double parked, I make sure to park next to them. Its a narrow van (NV200) so it fits almost anywhere lol.
Driving what I consider my nicer vehicle in snowy crappy weather is considered cruel and unusual punishment to said vehicle.
Its just a thing that you bought to drive and enjoy, Just wash it when it gets dirty. To me all of this keeping miles off of your nice cars and not driving them in bad weather is just preserving them for the next guy...
An X7 is an SUV, its designed specifically to get you and your family where you want to go and to do it in any weather and in comfort and style. If I didn't drive a vehicle like that when I needed to do those things I'm not sure why I would have even bought it to begin with

I get what everyone is saying. Give you example on how I look at it in a sense for me at least. Take 2 of our boosted cars, one being a manual, when I drive them I want to be able to get in boost and drive spiritly here and there. I can’t do that in rain or even worse snow. So since I can’t drive them like I want to, I may as well hop in my Prius.
Also after I drive my cars and put them back in the garage I wipe them down. I don’t do auto washes. I hand wash all of our vehicles. I even spray off the Prius. So I want to keep my cars as clean as possible for as long as possible. My FK8 is sitting in garage with a plastic cover over it to keep dust off it. I washed it and put it in the garage 2wks ago and it hasn’t moved since.
My truck which I use as a tow vehicle, can handle moving family around if needed. Seats 5 comfortably if I need to park the X. X hasn’t moved all week. Will drive it to church Sunday.
I also take extraordinarily good care of my cars and clean them off every day etc, but I still use them when I want to drive them. I know lots of people who look at it the way you do, I just don't get that personally. Its like having rooms in your house you never use and just look at

All he has to do is loan his car to my wife for a week, and that interior won't look so new anymore. It will be all broken in and being dirty will be the least of his worries

I have clothes and shoes with tags on them from 20yrs ago. Waiting for the right occasion.
I come from a hoarding/seems like a good deal family. Not long ago, my brother accumulated 13 vehicles. My brother has a boat but I’ve never seen him fish or seen the boat in water. One of my uncles has maybe 20 or so. I have to count but it’s quite a few. And I only see him riding his 🚲 or motorcycle 🏍️.

My cars aren’t in pristine condition but I try to keep them clean.🧼 🪣
In one of my storage rooms, it’s full of old temp license plates, dealer emblems and license plate frames, OEM floor mats, and every box to every appliance in our house with the instruction manual inside.

you can change ya know.
i align with the philosophy that all attachment is ultimately suffering. i am slowly getting rid of stuff. yeah i have 2 cars... one for work, and one for weekends. i'm looking to move to a smaller home. and i can now take a 2 week trip with just a carry on where i used to take a giant suitcase. it's liberating.

You're not going to pop up on one of those hoarder reality shows, are you? .
My grandfather was a hoarder, his garage was full of useless stuff, including military items from his days in the Korean war that had rotted away. He even had an army backpack, the material had started to turn to dust and was full of holes, and everything in it had been eaten by rats, termites and silverfish. When he passed away, it was all just thrown into a giant trash bin

I’m not there yet. Wife and I took a trip few months ago and on the way back our luggage was overweight from shopping.🫣

I tend to not get rid of things unless I replace it with something better. And when that happens I may hold on to the old thing in hopes to come across someone who needs/wants it and give it to them. @AMIRZA786 I have 2 spare working turbos for my FK8 sitting in storage. I need to get rid of 1 of them.
So currently don’t have an EV or plug in but have zero intentions of removing my level 2 charger. Never know what the future may hold. If it’s an EV or another plug in, just flip the breaker back on.
My MIL almost got trapped in her closet when one of her (overloaded) rods collapsed and partially buried her in clothes with the tags on. We told her that’s probably where we’re going to find her when she does kick the bucket
Back to cars. Expected to get only 5 inches of snow this evening, but it’s going to be followed up with hours of freezing rain. I’ll take a pic before I clear it all off for you guys
Well I have an offer on my Plaid and hopefully the PPI goes well Monday and it get shipped to CA next Friday. I can’t wait to get rid of this car and if I get another Plaid I’m hoping this experience is much better because it can’t be any worse. When I mentioned to my wife getting another Tesla she paused for a second and said I’m not giving any money to that company since she works the federal government but I told her who gives a crap as long as the product is good and she shrugged and said ok.
I may also check out an Audi E-tron GT depending on the lease deals but likely LEASING a plaid because I don’t love paying $15k to get out of this car.
