Not really sure where to post this but chose here..

I am interested in the S so I test drove a 2024 Model S long range on Saturday. Compared to my MYP, I thought:
  • Road noise, overall ride quality better in the S. Nowhere near Lexus LS level noise isolation, but a substantial improvement over the Y for sure.
  • Loved the seats, thought they were very comfortable
  • Love ventilated and cooled seats for the hot FL days
  • Much more room in the back seat for rear passengers (my kids 95% of the time)
  • Car felt wider overall than the Y - just felt overall more spacious
  • I don't like the use of the screen to change gears. Yes, I'd get used to it. I'd still prefer to have the stalk.
  • I don't like the turn signal situation on the steering wheel. Yes, I'd get used to it... I'd still prefer to have the stalk..!
  • My MYP is quick, but this car felt even quicker. I can't imagine a Plaid...but I'd like to drive one for sure.
Overall I do think this would likely be what I would get. I'd like to at least drive some other EV sedans to compare. I'm interested in driving the i5, i7, and the EQS sedan. Some of the EQS sedans near me that are just under 2 years old are listed for $43-$46k. That is a crazy deal on what looks to be a very luxurious car.

Did you test drive the S with the 21" wheels? Also I wouldn't compare sound isolation of any Tesla to a luxury vehicle, especially an older Lexus. The Model S is Sports-Luxury, but more sports than luxury. If you go with the 19" Tempest Wheels, you'll get a quieter, smoother ride, but than you would be compromising performance and looks.

I would take a look at the Demos, they are still new and heavily discounted. You wouldn't know the difference between ordering one and buying a Demo except price

Read up on the 21" Arachnid wheels and the camber issue that eats tires. I specifically looked for a car with the 19s to avoid it. Not much upside to the 21" except looks, and I don't really care that much for how they look. The 19s ride better, are quieter, and I've even seen tests where the 19s perform slightly better in straight line acceleration. I didn't really care for the looks of the 19s at first, but I've warmed up to them. No way I would touch a car with the 21s. The pics of uneven wear that I've seen is downright dangerous.

My thoughts exactly. My coworker bought 21" wheels for his Y, and not only is it louder, has a harsher ride and massive range reduction, but he hit a small pothole and there she wrote

21" tire on a medium sized sedan is insanity it needs to stop.

You have to pay to play my friend 😄

You have to get adjustable camber arms like the N2itive camber arms just so that you can get the fatter tires on the 21 Arachnids (265 and 295 tires) just for the awesome wide rear look. 😄

It's kinda silly how Tesla has deliberately not addressed the flawed camber when you buy the 21 inch wheels/tires also sold by Tesla

Plus, I'm kinda tired of the "huge wheels with the super thin tires showing all the brake hardware" look.

Yeah, I've read about that solution, I just don't think it's worth it. Not for me, anyway.

I agree that the 21" staggered wheels give the S that muscular look, but I would go with the 19" as well. The ride quality is what's more important to me. Plus you would be going through tires making pay to play a reality

Plus...just sayin'

"Tesla Plaid Channel says all five runs in the Plaid with the 19-inch standard wheels proved faster than both runs in the Plaid wearing 21s, which should come as no surprise if you know anything about how wheel size impacts acceleration. That's a different story for a different day, however, and there are always rare exceptions."

Not knocking the 19s, but the difference in speed is really academic and is splitting hairs realistically.

I doubt 99% of the owners would notice the difference in day to day driving where 99% of the time the car is used.

Personally I would get after market better quality/lighter wheels like the Signature SV104 in 20's (295 front and 305 rear) as the most optimal upgrade for speed and looks.

Yes, this one was the 19" wheels. I agree it doesn't look as good, but I could also consider some better looking after-market wheels that would fit those tires. My MYP is 300 mile range, whereas the S is 400 miles, so even if after market wheels make me lose some range, it'll still be way better than my MYP... and on top of that, I don't really care because I've only used a Super Charger 2 times in 2 years of owning the Y. The car is used for around town so range isn't any concern for me.

I'm going to at least do my due diligence and test drive some other EV's like I mentioned. And if I had to guess I would imagine this to be something I'd execute on in about 6-9 months anyway so I'm still in tire kicking mode. I'd love to be able to snag a lightly used silver S. That's the color I want.

Yeah, a 450+ like 5 miles from me is a certified 2022 with 13k miles for $46k. 2022 certified with 21k miles is $43,500. I have actually found the styling of these has grown on me quite a bit and the interior is gorgeous as you would expect out of MB. This just seems like a whole lot of car for the money and I am a sucker for value. However, I am skeptical about the user interface which is really important to me. Tesla just makes it so easy and so intuitive. But I want to drive the MB as part of my homework to compare against the Model S.

I know the 580 is the faster version, but I don't see any of those (used) for sale near me.
