Is it too much of a pain to drill a small hole for a set screw to secure the tips?
Center punch, cobalt-based drill bit, cutting oil, slow RPMs and moderate pressure?
I did think about that but being only 1.5mm in thickness, I think drilling a hole and then tag a nut onto the outside of the pipe would be a better option.
or
Drill through the tip through the exhaust pipe and through the other side and a simple split pin to hold in place. (I like the idea of a mechanical option to secure the tips rather than a adhesive... I would constantly worry about the tip falling off and going through someone's windscreen).
I do like the look of those clamps above though, less bulky than my choice.
Those BriTex style clamps do have a very small profile and they're beautifully crafted. I have a few left over from another project but didn't want to waste them on this mod...you'd never see them.

Not a set screw, per se, as the tip is only 1.5mm thick, but screw into both the tip and the exhaust pipe. I am disinclined to cut 16 slits in the tips w my Dremel.

Yeah, you only need the slits if you're going to clamp it...and you could actually just make 3 slits per tip.
I didn't use the VHT clear finish; it dulled the stainless on a test section. I used a couple drops of Permatex high-temp gasket maker to secure the tips. Somehow I messed up and didn't buy the Permatex tailpipe sealant, but the gasket maker is very secure. Not even sure the tips will come off. Guess I'll have to keep this car.

I'm very pleased w this mod. Thanks Timado.

You're very welcome and I'm glad I could help. I do love the look of these things...really does look OEM.
I believe a few dabs of any adhesive/sealant would secure the tips, they fit pretty snug as is, so it wouldn't take much to keep 'em in place.
I am trying to get a set for my OEM exhaust and it looks like all of the options online are 170mm in length. Are they going to end up being too long for the rear end or they slide in quite deep?

2.5" inlet and a 3.5" out is what I believe is required. I can't find anything that 150mm - do you have a link to those?
They're essentially perfect and did you run into any issues with the diffuser rubbing against the top?
EDIT: Just scrolled down that second post and noticed they are rubbing... I would like to go with a 3.5 for that very reason.

Yup those were 4" and they rubbed. 3.5" will not rub. Those are the ones I got from the guy on facebook and those guys who sell them there always mention they get them custom sized to be shorter than the ones you can get online. We had this chat about those on fb messenger
Below are ones that are 170mm 3.5" mounted to an armytrix exhaust, but you can see how they stick out a little more. This is similar to what it would look like on OE exhaust most likely.
