Btw,thanks OP for introducing me to this awesome android unit. Now I have a 10" screen that I enjoy staring at, instead of the boring stock radio.
Anyway I have the latest 8.1 version, and installation was pretty straight forward, thanks to the info in this thread. And to my surprise, my unit doesn't have any of the issues mentioned in this thread. But...but I have a complete different issue, the backup camera function doest't work! When car is in reverse, nothing happens on the screen. The camera works fine when I connect it to the video in, so that rules out bad camera.
Can anyone with a backup camera connected show me how you connected it? And is there a setting in the unit that needs to checked for it to work?
Thanks in advance.

So you had a Nav unit prior? Did you happen to take pics of your connectors? also your canbus color?

One thought: Do you have the OBD plug connected? The simple plug that only has (I think) two green wires running to it? I would think that it’s possible that this is required to tell the Android unit that the car is shifted into reverse.
I installed a cheap backup camera and it works great, turning on as soon as I put the car in reverse. I am getting the camera’s power from the backup lights in the driver’s side tail light assembly. And the camera’s yellow RCA connector is hooked to the backup camera input on the Android unit. I’m not using any sort of triggering wire from the front of the car.
How can you tell the camera is working? How did you test it?

No, my car doesn't have NAV.
My canbus decoder is the same as the brown one posted by zcollier
Here are couple photos I took, minus the backup camera. It uses two connectors (J63, J66) on the DVD/Radio unit at the bottom. The rest of the connectors are for the canbus in and out, the climate control etc. They are pretty much unique shape for each one, so you can't go wrong with the connection. (***Ignore the radio antenna on the 1st photo. I reconnected it back to the factory unit in 2nd photo.)
Thanks for the info. That explains it. Mine didn't come with the odb plug, or it is missing in the package. Time to bug the seller I guess. Will have to wait for awhile though since it is Chinese New Year over there. Everything is shut down for couple weeks.

Just confirmed plugging in the odb does activate backup cam, that said, you may be able to tap something to get it to work too. filling your odb slot seems kinda lame.

Please report your results with the OBD splitter. I hope it’s great, as I think we all could benefit from one of these. I used to have an Automatic dongle plugged in there and it was great. I’m definitely missing it, and have almost bought a splitter a couple of time to try it out.

Honestly the hardest part about this is getting the cables tucked in there, nightmare. Did you plug up an aux cable? Can't find aux out.

So your radio works? Mine won't go over 93.4 with brown decoder. Also I have a plethora of dash lights. NM, no dash lights. Think I left something unplugged earlier.
Is this the right model for ours I assume?
Also what options do you guys have set here?
My current issues are: incorrect radio stations and when I use aux it seems to not turn off radio all the time(can have both playing at once)

On a different but still related note, Did anyone install the backup cam themselves? Where did you route the wire, thats my next step in this whole ordeal and im not sure which way to go

I installed a camera.
I ran the wire along the driver’s side of the car, down by the base of the doors. You can pull on the big plastic trim pieces to pop them off and you will find other wires already running under there. I ran my camera wire right next to those.
The trickiest part is getting the wire from the area next to the back seat and into the trunk area. I used a fish tape (electrical wiring pulling tool) to “fish” a string through a wiring hole that’s already there, starting from inside the trunk, forward and out next to the back seat. Then I taped the camera wire to that string and pulled it back through the hole and into the trunk area.
From there I popped the trim off of the little arms/bars that connect the trunk lid to the car body. And I ran the camera wire down that arm/bar, again next to the other wires that are already there.
Then I found a good place on a horizontal surface right above the license plate to drill a hole to mount the camera. Tip: The outer surface is fiberglass (I think) but you’ll also have to drill through another layer about a centimeter inside the first hole you drill (there is some space/air between the layers). That inner surface is metal, so it’s a little more difficult. Start with smaller drill bits and step up / increase the size slowly so that you can keep control of the drilling process. You’ll have to drill into that metal from a slight angle (not perpendicular) so starting with a small pilot hole will make it much easier.
With the hole drilled I mounted the camera and connected the video signal output to the video wire running up to the Android unit.
To turn the camera on I connected the power wire for the camera to the positive wire of the driver’s side backup light. That’s the one simple part of this process!!
It works great! I love having a backup camera!
I hope this description helps. Let me know if you need any specific guidance as you complete the project.
I talked to Jack from TopNavi and he said their holiday will end the 15th of Feb, and that from now on they will be shipping units in US with US canbus.
