I'm still waiting for my USA version CAN BUS decoder to arrive, but I did go ahead and buy a USB CarPlay adapter which adds Apple CarPlay to Android head units like ours. It works great!
I've read reviews stating that these adapters don't let enough current flow through to the iPhone to effectively charge the phone while using GPS, but I've not had it long enough to test this aspect. What I can say is that I simply installed this adapter inline between my iPhone dock and the Android unit's USB port and it's a seamless experience. Plug in the iPhone and it launches the app and jumps right into CarPlay. Really nice!
If I do end up experiencing charging problems I think I could build a little adapter to go inline just before the phone that delivers more power directly to the phone and passes only the data transmission lines back through to the CarPlay adapter. But I'll see how this works as-is before diving into that project.
Did u do any configuration to connect to the carlinkit box? I cannot able to detect any usb device other than media usb..
Got a cheap later vent, after taking a slice off the back it would fit but its still not perfect. Much better than before but I might have another got at adjusting space between radio, nav and vents to fit a little better.
Im tired of it for a while now though, too much taking apart lately so I'll just use it for a while!
So after approximately (3) three years of use my wife tells me that the display no longer comes on. I am bummed because I really did like the unit despite the Radio Frequency (Displaying incorrect Station) and Climate Control (only displaying Hi/Lo not actual temp unit was set at) issues. I guess I’ll be looking for another solution (unless of course someone knows a fix for this). Although I really loved the way the old one looked this one is growing on me but ..........
I've bough myself a 2008 IS 250 (came from a 2012 Hyndai Elantra so the tech in this car are superior even if this is an older car hahaha) , the car came with this android head unit installed, I have the common issues like radio not showing correct frequency and the AC not showing temperature, I wanna ask if anyone can share an explanation of what every item do on the extra settings (some are self-explanatory but others aren't )
I have another issue, my previous and next song buttons on my steering wheel controls are swapped (so the down arrow is NEXT, and the up arrow is PREV) on extra settings there is an option to "Swap steering last and next key" but does not seems to be working (the settings resets itself after a head unit restart), also I've tried map the steering wheel control using the actual radio mapping app but for whatever reason the app is not recognizing the inputs from the steering wheels.
Also has anyone successfully to update this HU to android 8? there's a thread on XDA where there is a lot of discussion from another similars HU produced fro another cars, but seems like all the HU with "t3 p3" share most of the hardware. Also I've been checking on 4PDA Thread where there is even more info about our HU's hardware and Software.

Yea my previous and next song buttons are like that, revised, but it doesn't brother me. I just get used to it. The reason the steering wheel mapping app doesn't work is, if your unit is similar to ours, the HU gets the steering wheel signal from the canbus adapter. The mapping app which only works if you connect the two wires, Steering Wheel 1 and Steering Wheel 2 in the HU harness. Right now, those two wires are not connected to anything.
By the way, the unit in this thread is a T8, not T3 though. And it is on Android 8 already.
Ok the seller helped me solve my problem. Under settings -> Car Settings -> Extra Settings there should be an option called "Config Info" where you get a lot of options I can check off. One of which is Air Control.
I dragged the shortcut to the home screen so I could use it. And yea it works just like ianbis's, which is fine cause I'd rather have some control than no control. I was also able to figure out why the original radio and CD player wasn't producing sound. Turns out those extra RCA wires are meant to be plugged into the Stereo. That got my radio working again, but this also gives me the same problems as ianbis has with it not being able to go past 97.60 FM.
But the built in radio does go past that range, but you can only connect one radio at a time with the wiring. I ordered a car stereo antenna splitter so both radios can operate. Not something I can find easily in stores so it's from Ebay. BTW ianbis there's a setting in those Extra Settings to set the radio region. By default it's set to China, like many things in there. So just set it to USA or whatever and get that antenna radio splitter and you'll get all your stations like I will.
I was talking to my seller on Skype and he asked me if I installed the radio and I said yes. His tone towards me changed. When he found out I didn't plug in the RCA wires he kept saying I needed to test myself first. I honestly thought those 2 wires were for if people put in an amplifier, which is understandable considering this is a custom radio install. I explained to the person that for a radio that literally had no instructions not only to install it but to operate it, you should expect this. Especially the climate controls which needed me to enter in a password. I also asked him what the OBD2 connector was for, and he just kept saying I needed to test myself. BTW, not the first radio I've installed. I put a 2din in my 02 Corvette and that's a very custom job to do.
Hey Dukenukemx,
I know its been a while since you figured this issue out, but I just installed my head unit and unfortunately I also am missing the climate control application. Would you be able to help me out here?
Sorry I didn't see this message earlier, @chrischan
No, I didn't do any special configuration on the Android side, but it does require a recent version of the AutoKit Android app. You run the app and it detects the iOS device connected through the USB-to-Lightning cable. Once you've connected it once that way it should be easy enough to set up the wireless CarPlay. There may be some settings required in the AutoKit app itself, but I don't remember doing anything that wasn't obvious, like selecting "CarPlay" instead of "Screen Mirroring" or whatever, but I'm pretty sure that was the default setting anyway.
Hello everyone,I have a US model 2010 Lexus is250 with no nav and I was wondering if anyone knows if this will fit my car and year without any issues….I have bought one before that caused a airbag light and I honestly don't want to deal with this again https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000...c00Cz3duk&mp=1 but has anyone tested this please let me know i really just want it for the apple car play functionality.
And could any one help to export the app "OriginalCar" which is used to listen to radio/CD/AUX of the original car ?
I lost it after refreshing the firmware...
Thanks

May I ask how good is this head unit? I think this aftermarket radio looks the best and does a good job of integrating the ac function but I was in doubt of its functionality, touch sensitivity, user interface, and so on.
Great job on the install BTW!

Reason: quote didn't work the first time
Slight update on my install. I was send a new board by the seller as my Hazards didnt work. Fitted the new board and same issue.. everything works great apart from the hazard button,
Am I right in saying that the wire for the hazards is in the black that fits on the side of the Nav? I believe it is but having trouble confirming. The saga continues. I think Im going to ask for a new loom/wiring set.
Edit: Just checked and its position 12 on the block. Looking at the loom, I have a wire going in but no pin in the block.. think I might have found the issue!
I have the same issue even more AC buttons dont work could you please help . Is there a wire I should connect in the lower motherboard ? Thank you
That plug you can see in my pic should have a cable plugged in when you fit the unit.
Is it all the buttons along the length of the unit that are not working?
Yes all the buttons are not working. Do you remember if the cable is coming from the car to the unit or from the unit cable harness ? Because I didnt plug any wire in that plug
