General EV Conversation
Ohhh man. I would be tempted by this also. So if 6 inches longer than standard G80, it would put the length in the general ballpark of a standard (non LWB) LS460 and would be about 6 inches shorter than an LS500.
I think there are a pile of red flags after watching that. Some good things like frunk packaging is well done but the overall vibe I get is prototype that is very far from mass production. Notice we don't see a second of footage on the factory floor, is there one? Look at this way, why can Slate make a vehicle for a lower cost than anyone else? What are they doing that no other automaker is? Body in white is the same as every other vehicle out there, has the same electronics, battery pack and everything else as the average EV. Only way they can beat other automakers is ultra vertical integration and they are not doing that. Slate has not invented a new methodology that cuts costs compared to everyone else.
I'd like to be wrong the market desperately needs a simple, low cost truck.

I booked a "self service" test drive of a new Model Y today. Had no idea what that meant... but it was amazing. Book through the website, enter your info, Tesla sends you a link to download the Tesla app (I already have it as a MYP owner). Within the app, I swipe to see my appointment time - asks me to take a pic of the front and back of my license, then take a selfie. Boom, I'm approved. Car shows up in the Tesla app so I can use my phone as a key. I show up to the hotel where the car is parked - no showroom, no one to interact with, and I just walk up to the car and on the Tesla app I hit "start test drive" and it pairs my phone to the car and the doors unlock... and off I go.
Unbelievable seamless experience. If you don't own a Tesla, the process would be the same but you'd just have to download and install the Tesla app. What a way to make a positive impression on a potential new customer about how easy it is to get into the ecosystem.
On another note, the new MY is improved in virtually every area compared to mine. I was really impressed. Ride quality, road noise, cooled seats, ambient lighting. All of it was great. A great car at a reasonable price.

I floored it on an on ramp to 95 to compare the acceleration to my Performance and I felt my phone buzz and heard a ding in the car. Few seconds later I looked at my phone and the Tesla app said "Car has gotten within 3 mph of it's 85mph limit". LOL, have to assume I wasn't the only one getting the notification!

and yeah i knew there’s an 85 limit on test drives lol.
Rivian dropping Mapbox and replacing it with Google Maps. I thought it was generally fine, but I did get some occasional poor routing where it didn't know I could make a left and insisted on a jughandle.
No ETA though
