Most people will almost always think with their wallets, even if they care about the environment. We will only solve the CO2 crisis if we make choices where costs are comparable or cheaper than the current fossil alternatives. EVs are kind of a no-brainer. next to 0 maintenance costs, lower energy costs, and better performance. Even if the initial purchase is more expensive, the break even is relatively quick. People would naturally gravitate towards BEV if people didn't make it political.
As for other environmental choices, like compostable packaging etc, it usually takes government intervention, otherwise producers would not spend the extra money. Breakeven for solar takes too long.
Instead of posting this in the BMW ix thread I'm posting it here instead because I don't want to derail that thread. Also this is not to trigger anyone, and this is just based on my experiences. IMO the reason most people don't like using the infotainment systems of most cars and prefer buttons is, they all suck. Tesla's infotainment system IMO doesn't suck. I frankly I love using it. I love seeing it, it's visually beautiful. Well organized. Do I use it when I'm on the freeway driving 80 mph in heavy traffic? Of course not. Only if using FSD or Autopilot. I use the buttons on the steering wheel while driving which would access the functions I need. Anyway, that's my 2 cents

Subjective and I respect your opinion. I prefer CarPlay over any infotainment system without CarPlay. I don’t care for how Tesla puts everything into their screen…vent adjustments, wiper adjustments, open/close glove box, open/close trunk, radio presets, etc.
Sure I have auto wipers but I disable it and want to use them when I think it’s necessary. A few drops on the windshield doesn’t need to activate the auto wipers especially when I just washed it. Don’t want that wiper print on left side of the appear to be rather clean windshield

My vents are preset, I set them once when I got the car a year ago. The settings follow me to both Tesla's. My wife's, daughter, sons, all their settings are already there. In other words, none of us ever play with the vents, seats, steering wheel, mirrors etc. But I get you want ACP, and respect that as well
A lot of times when I’m driving my wife will close her vents, adjust the temp on her side. Grab some napkins from the glovebox.
Turning the vents off takes a second. Just touch it for a second and hold. You can program one of the scroll buttons to open the the glove box, so no reaching over which is actually dangerous. Easy peasy
I don't use my radio presets for the radio(since I stream from my phone 99% of the time), but on the 540i i have them programmed as shortcuts to commonly used menus.
What? I still use radio presets and I prefer to listen to radio over streaming services.
But regardless, CarPlay is nice since it integrates so much of your phones information, but I don't necessarily find it intuitive either, especially the Map.
I didn't know ACP is 100% controlled by physical buttons.
Radio presets? What year is it.
Do you drive with your AirPods in your ears? 🎧
I can change the song, toggle between radio presets, switch to music on phone, satellite radio presets on the steering wheel of my 3rd gen Prius. Something about old Toyotas I’m sure you appreciate as well😏
Oh I can control the HVAC temp on the steering wheel.

Buttons
Amazing, Tesla and other EV makers should take notes.
